Tuesday 2/5, 2/12 & 2/26, 7:00 9:00 Colorwork Cowl If you ve never knit Fair Isle before, a cowl is a great place to start: all the knitting is done in the round, and there s no need to steek or figure out any shaping. Come learn how to knit with two colors at once and have a beautiful, functional cowl when you re done! Saturday 2/9 & 2/16, 10:00 12:00 Fee: $35 Age of Brass and Steam Kerchief Have you ever wanted to learn to knit easy lace? How about adding beads to your knitting? Using a lovely top-down shawl pattern, The Age of Brass and Steam Kerchief by Orange Flower Yarn, students will learn various types of increases used in lace knitting, how to add beads to your knitting using a (tiny) crochet hook, and how to do a picot bind off. Students should be comfortable knitting and purling on a circular needle (due to the number of stitches, straight needles are not recommended). Tuesday 2/12, 2/26 & 3/12, 7:00 9:00 Instructor: Ron Tyler Gina Spiral Cowl This quick & easy cowl is stunning in a selfstriping yarn like Plymouth Gina! The textured stitch pattern and the colors work wonderfully together to create a piece that looks far more complex than it is to knit. Students should be comfortable knitting and purling. Saturday 2/23, 10:00 12:00 Fee: $25 Instructor: Patti Tyler Using a Fiber Trends pattern, we will discover the fun of knitting super-thick yarn on superthick needles and watching the resulting booties shrink in the washing machine to warm the toes of someone you love--or maybe you? Students should be comfortable knitting and purling. Saturday 2/23, 3/2 & 3/9, 2:00 4:00 Instructor: Marcia Weinert
3 Plain Vanilla Socks If you ve never made socks before and want to learn without using DPNs, this class is for you. Learn how to knit a basic sock on either two circulars or magic loop. Students should be comfortable knitting and purling, but do not need prior experience knitting in the round. Saturday 3/2, 3/9 & 3/16, 10:00 12:00 Students will learn to make these uniquely constructed socks, starting with a sock footprint and ending with an afterthought leg! It s a new twist on an old technique, and could become your new favorite way to knit socks. Personal Footprint socks are elegantly simple completely knit in the round with no stitches to pick up and replaceable heels and toes and fit the wearer perfectly. Students should be comfortable knitting in the round. Prior sock knitting experience is helpful but not necessary. Students must have their own copy of Personal Footprints for Insouciant Sock Knitters by Cat Bordhi; this book is available for purchase at the shop. Tuesday 4/9, 4/16 & 4/23, 7:00 9:00 Toe-up socks are a great way to knit socks when you want to use up every last bit of your yarn: divide your ball in half, start at the toe, and knit until you run out! Come learn how to make toe-up socks using two circulars or magic loop. Students should be comfortable knitting and purling, but do not need prior experience knitting in the round. Saturday 4/13, 4/20 & 4/27, 10:00 12:00 Surprise! It s a baby jacket that is. Part origami, part knitting, this pattern uses only the knit stitch and strategically placed increases and decreases to create a wavy rectangle of fabric which folds up into an adorable baby sweater. Tuesday 3/12, 3/19 & 3/26, 7:00 9:00 Coniferous Cowl The weather may be warming up, but it can still be a bit on the chilly side. Knit this long cowl out of a couple of skeins of Rowan Summerspun or any other DK weight yarn to keep you warm on cool evenings. Students should be comfortable knitting and purling. Saturday 3/23, 10:00 12:00 Fee: $25 Instructor: Patti Tyler Intarsia It's easier than you think to make color images appear in your knitting! We'll figure out how to manage small units of yarn, how to chart the ideas we want to "paint" onto our work, and how to interlock the yarns so no holes appear in the finished fabric. Students should be comfortable knitting and purling. Saturday 3/23, 2:00 4:00 Fee: $25 Instructor: Marcia Weinert Entrelac Entrelac involves knitting simple squares in such a way that each square appears to be woven with those around it. Learn the fun and easy methods behind the magic (including picking up stitches and knitting back backwards ), and make a smashing scarf suitable for winter or summer wear or bring that pattern you ve been eager to undertake! Students should be comfortable knitting and purling.
