5 First Things First: Laying Out Your Book A. Fabrics: Wash and dry all your fabrics. Then press flat, using steam. Fold Cut out and place fabric backgrounds: Fold light brown twill fabric in half. Cut 6 rectangles, 10 X 18 (A). Using a washout marker, draw lines 1 in on all four sides, and a line marking the center at the top and bottom (B). B. C. Back Front Label your fabric pieces in the 1 margin around the sides as this will be your stitching lines (C). The actual page numbers are in parenthesis. You will want to cut a 10 X 9 light blue sky background for page number 6, Let s Go Fishing. Also a camouflage background for page 5, What s Hiding in the Woods. Lay the pieces over the top of the light brown fabric, and zigzag them in place down the middle seam. The other edges will be sewn in. Follow the patterns for cut pieces. Several pieces will need to be Heat n Bonded together. Directions for this are on page 27. Lettering can be completed with a permanent ink marker, slick paints, or be embroidered. Directions for embroidery are on page 29.
