Place a 1 /" square right sides together on the right end of a rectangle. Sew on the drawn line. ut 1 /" from the sewn line and press to (igure ). 3. Place a 1 /" square right sides together on the left end of the rectangle. Sew on the drawn line. ut 1 /" from the sewn line and press to to make a 1 /" x 1 /" lying eese unit (igure 3). Repeat to make a total of sixteen lying eese units.. raw a diagonal line on the wrong side of sixteen O 3" squares. Place an O 3" square right sides together with a 3" square. Sew ¼" on each side of the diagonal line. ut along the diagonal line and press both pieces to to make alf Square Triangles (ST) (igure ). Square units to ½". Repeat with remaining O and 3" squares to make a total of thirty-two ST s. 5. Sew a ST to both ends of a lying eese unit (igure 5). Press seams open. 3 1. ay out the nine pieces of the hurn ash block as shown. Sew the pieces into rows, then sew the rows together. Sew blocks in rows 1, 3, and 5 together to make three 6½" x ½" rows, press seams open.. Sew pairs of hurn ash blocks together in rows and, press seams open. Sew units together with the 9 Patch blocks to make two 1½" x ½" rows, press seams open. 3. Sew the five rows together to complete the ½" x ½" quilt center, press seams open.. Sew the 1½" border strips end to end, press seams open. ut two ½" lengths and two ½" lengths. Sew the ½" strips to the sides of the quilt center and the ½" strips to the top and bottom, press to borders. 5. Sew the P 5½" x ½" strips to the sides of the quilt, press to borders. Sew the four remaining WO strips end to end, press seams open. ut two 5½" lengths. Sew to the top and bottom of the quilt, press to borders. inishing: 1. Prepare backing with a horizontal seam to measure 6" x 6". Press seam open.. ayer backing, batting and quilt top. aste layers together. 3. Quilt as desired.. Trim batting and backing even with quilt top. 5. Sew 1 /" binding strips together with diagonal seams. Press seams open. Press joined strip in half, lengthwise, wrong sides together, to create double-fold binding. Sew binding to quilt using your favorite method. 6. ake a label and sew to the back of the quilt.
