No one knows! But what fun to speculate what is hidden inside each of the pieced gifts. Quick piecing methods make the presents easy to construct. 3 1. alf-square Triangles (ST): The blocks require ST that finish 2" and 22" square. Use your favorite method to make ST, or follow these directions. raw a diagonal line on the wrong side of 2 abric 2f" squares (iagram 1). Place a marked square on a abric square, right sides together. Sew 4" seam on each side of the marked line; cut apart on the marked line. Press open to make pieced ST. Make 4 ST like this. Likewise, make 4 ST using abric and abric E 3s" squares. 2. lying Geese (G): raw a diagonal line on the wrong side of abric I 22" squares. Place a marked square on one end of a abric 22" x 42" rectangle, right sides together. Sew on the marked line (iagram 2); trim away and discard excess fabric. Press open. Repeat this process on the opposite end of the rectangle to make a lying Geese Unit (iagram 3). Repeat to make a second unit. Likewise, make 2 lying Geese with abric 3" squares and abric 3" x 52" rectangles. Set units aside. 3. Referring to the block diagrams, arrange and join patches, ST, and G units to make larger pieced units. Join the units to make blocks. Sew abric strips to the sides, and then to the top and bottom of the blocks. Make 2 blocks of each kind. 4. Referring to the Quilt iagram, sew the long abric C borders to the sides of the abric A panel. Sew short abric C borders to top and bottom. 5. Join 4 blocks in a vertical row in the order shown. Sew to the side of the quilt. Repeat for the opposite side. 6. Sew short abric borders to the sides. Sew long abric borders to top and bottom. 7. Sew short abric B borders to sides.
