Sew the strips together, end to end using diagonal seams, and cut (2) 5 ½ x 54 ½ strips. ut (2) 2 ½ x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (24) 2 ½ squares. ut (1) 8 ½ x WOF strip. Sub-cut the strip into (24) 1 ½ x 8 ½ strips. ut (1) 6 ½ x WOF strip. Sub-cut the strip into (24) 1 ½ x 6 ½ strips. ut (2) 88 x WOF strips. 3 Making the Quilt 1. Block Assembly Sew (1) 1 ½ x 6 ½ Fabric strip to each side of (1) 6 ½ Fabric A square. Sew (1) 1 ½ x 8 ½ Fabric strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A square to make one A block (iagram 1). 5. Place (1) 4 ½ Fabric square on the top left corner of the Block center, right sides together (iagram 7). Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (iagram 7). Flip open the triangle formed and press (iagram 8). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle ¼ away from the sewn seam. A iagram 1 2. Place (1) 4 ½ Fabric B square on the top left corner of (1) A block, right sides together (iagram 2). Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (iagram 2). Flip open the triangle formed and press (iagram 3). Place (1) 2 ⅞ Fabric F square on top of (1) 2 ⅞ Fabric H square, right sides together. raw a line across the diagonal of the top square. Sew ¼ away from each side of the drawn diagonal line (iagram 11). ut the two squares apart on the drawn diagonal line (iagram 12) to make (2) FH units (iagram 13). Repeat Step 8 using (48) 2 ⅞ Fabric E squares and (48) 2 ⅞ Fabric H squares to make (96) 2 ½ EH units (iagram 14). make 96 H E iagram Follow iagram 19 and sew four 2 ½ Fabric squares, (8) FH units, (8) EH units, (4) HH units and (1) Block center to make (1) Block One. Repeat to make (6) Block Ones total Place (1) 2 ½ Fabric H square on the left side of (1) 2 ½ x 4 ½ Fabric strip, right sides together (iagram 15). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (iagram 15). Flip open the triangle formed and press (iagram 16). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼ seam allowance. iagram 15 iagram 17 iagram 16 Place another 2 ½ Fabric H square on the right side of the 2 ½ x 4 ½ Fabric strip, right sides together (iagram 17). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (iagram 17). Flip open the triangle formed and press (iagram 18). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼ seam allowance to make one HH unit. make 48 H H iagram Repeat Steps to make (48) HH units total iagram 19 iagram 20 make 6 Follow iagram 20 and sew four 2 ½ Fabric squares, (8) FH units, (8) EH units, (4) HH units and (1) Block center to make (1) Block Two. Repeat to make (6) Block Twos total. Quilt Top Refer to Quilt ayout when assembling the quilt top. Sew (2) Block Ones and (1) Block Two together, alternating them, to make Row One. Pay attention to the orientation of rose rows in center of blocks. Repeat to make Row Three. make Sew (2) Block Twos and (1) Block One together, alternating them, to make Row Two. 5 18. enter one 3 ½ x 68 Fabric strip on one side of the quilt top and pin in place. Start sewing the strip a ¼ from the top edge of the quilt top and stop a ¼ from the bottom edge. O NOT TRM THE EXESS. Repeat with the opposite side. 19. Repeat Step 18 to sew (1) 3 ½ x 58 Fabric strip to the top and to the bottom of the quilt top, making sure to stop and start ¼ away from each end of the quilt top. To miter each corner, fold the quilt top on a diagonal, wrong side together. This should line up the strips from adjacent sides (iagram 21). iagram 21 Quilt Top Folded on the iagonal 20. Starting at the sewn seam (represented by the arrow in iagram 21), draw a 45-degree line to the edge of the fabric. Sew on the drawn line. Trim the excess fabric leaving a ¼ seam. Repeat this step with the remaining corners. Quilt ayout 21. Sew (1) 5 ½ x 70 ½ Fabric strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) 5 ½ Fabric square to each end of (1) 5 ½ x 54 ½ Fabric strip. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the quilt top. Finishing the Quilt 22. ayer and quilt as desired. Sew the (8) 2 ½ x WOF Fabric F strips together, end to end with a 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press. Bind as desired.
