3 utting Instructions torm at ea is made up of three different blocks, but it is the fabric placement that creates the design. As you cut your fabrics, label them by fabric letter. As you assemble the blocks and the quilt top, double check the fabric placement for each block. 4 x 4 and 7 x 7 squares cut once on diagonal. 4 x 4 and 7 x 7 squares cut twice on diagonal. 3-1/2 x 7 rectangle cut once on diagonal. (half will be cut in the Fabric A and I - Fussycut six squares 5-1/2 x 5-1/2. Fabric and - Fussycut four squares 5-1/2 x 5-1/2. Fabric D - ut one strip 10-1/2 x WF, then subcut four rectangles 5-1/2 x 10-1/2. Fabric E - ut three strips 10-1/2 x WF, then subcut sixteen rectangles 5-1/2 x 10-1/2. Fabric F - ut four strips 10-1/2 x WF, then subcut Fabric G Fabric H Fabric and - ut eight rectangles 3-1/2 x 7. ut four on the diagonal and four on the opposite diagonal. - ut two squares 7 x 7. 4 otes efore You egin - Please read through all of the instructions before beginning. - All of the seam allowances are unless otherwise noted. - Press all seam allowances open after each seam is sewn, unless otherwise noted. - emember to measure twice and cut once! Printing the Templates: - Print forty-nine copies of Template 1 on page 9 at 100%. Assembly Instructions tep 1: ake the arge Economy locks - ew a Fabric 7 triangle to the top of a Fabric square. - ew a Fabric 7 triangle to the bottom of the Fabric quare. - Trim points to true up the sides. trim points before sewing. This will assure that the point of the triangles are centered in the block. - ew a Fabric 7 triangle to the left side of the Fabric square. - ew a Fabric 7 triangle to the right side of the Fabric square. - Trim edges so you have of seam allowance past each Fabric corner. lock will measure 7-1/2 x 7-1/2. 7-1/2 - ew a Fabric triangle to the upper right and lower left sides of the block. Trim points. page 4

5 - ew a Fabric triangle to the lower right side of the block. - ew a Fabric triangle to the upper left side of the block. - Trim edges so you have of seam allowance past each Fabric and point. lock will measure 10-1/2 x 10-1/2. Follow the diagram below to make the number of blocks indicated. You will be using 5-1/2 squares for the center paired with the 7 triangles. 6 tep 2: ake the mall Economy locks Following the instructions from tep 1, make 5-1/2 x 5-1/2 economy blocks, using 3 squares for the center paired with 4 triangles. Follow the diagram and make the number of blocks indicated. Pay close attention to the fabric placement and label the blocks by number. Pin or use a dab of glue F - Place a Fabric triangle right sides together on the Fabric F rectangle. The long edge of the triangle will be over the line between section 1 and 2. Pin. - epeat with a Fabric triangle pinned over the line between section 1 and 3. - ew along the lines using a small stitch length. page 6

7 - epeat to sew a Fabric triangle to section 4 and 5. - Trim outer edge of block along seam allowance line and gently remove the papers. lock will measure 5-1/2 x 10-1/2 5-1/2 10-1/2 Follow the diagram below to make the number of Diamond locks indicated.
