From each of Fabrics A-D and F, cut: one 6-1/2 square Cutting Instructions From Fabric E, cut: seven 6-1/2 x WOF strips. Subcut: one 6-1/2 square Sew the remainder of the strips together, end-to-end, then trim to yield: two 6-1/2 x 56 top outer borders two 6-1/2 x 72 side outer borders page 3

4 From Fabric G, cut: fi ve 2-1/2 x WOF strips. Sew together, end-to-end, then trim to yield: two 2-1/2 x 38 top/bottom inner borders two 2-1/2 x 52-1/2 side inner borders one 7-1/4 square. Cut each square along both diagonals, creating four triangles from each square. From each of Fabrics H-L, cut: one 7-1/4 square. Cut each square along both diagonals, creating four triangles from each square. From each of Fabrics M-R, cut: two 3-7/8 squares. Cut each square along one diagonal, creating two triangles from each square. From each of Fabrics S & T, cut: one 2-1/2 x WOF strip. Subcut: ten 2-1/2 squares From Fabric U, cut: two 2-1/2 x WOF strips. Subcut: twenty 2-1/2 squares From Fabric V, cut: one 3-1/2 x WOF strip. Subcut: four 3-1/2 squares for the inner border cornerstones Trim the remainder of the WOF strip to 2-1/2 wide. Subcut: four 2-1/2 squares for the middle border cornerstones one 3 x WOF strip. Subcut: twelve 3 squares for the sashing cornerstones one 2-1/2 x WOF strip. Subcut: ten 2-1/2 squares seven 2-1/2 x WOF strips for the binding From Fabric W, cut: six 3 x WOF strips. Subcut: seventeen 3 x 12-1/2 sashing strips one 2-1/2 x WOF strip. Subcut: ten 2-1/2 squares From Fabric X, cut: four 3-1/2 x WOF strips. Sew together, end-to-end, then trim to yield: two 3-1/2 x 32 top/bottom inner borders two 3-1/2 x 46-1/2 side inner borders two 2-3/8 x WOF strips. Subcut: twenty-four 2-3/8 squares. Cut each square in half along a diagonal, creating two triangles. four 2-1/2 x WOF strips. Subcut: sixty 2-1/2 squares page 4

5 Assemble the Half Square Triangles Step 1: Pair a 2-1/2 Fabric X square with a 2-1/2 Fabric S square, RST. Mark a diagonal line on the wrong side of one square. Sew 1/4 away from both sides of the marked line. Cut on the marked line, creating two half-square triangles (HSTs). Press toward the darker fabric. Trim to 2 square. Repeat with all remaining 2-1/2 squares, pairing Fabric X with Fabrics S-W. X/S X/T X/U X/V X/W Assemble the Blocks Step 2: Sew three X/S HSTs together as shown. Sew a Fabric X triangle to the right edge. Press all seams to the left. Repeat to make four units like this. Step 3: Sew two X/S HSTs together as shown. Sew a Fabric X triangle to the bottom edge, as shown. Press the seam to the cream triangle. Repeat to make four units like this. page 5

6 Step 4: Sew a completed Step 3 unit to the left edge of a Fabric M triangle. Press the seam away from the HSTs. Step 5: Sew a completed Step 2 unit to the top of the Step 4 unit. Press the seams in one direction. Step 6: Sew a Fabric G triangle to each edge of the Fabric A square. Press the seam away from the square. page 6

7 Step 7: Sew a completed Step 5 unit to edge edge of the completed Step 6 unit. Press the seams away from the block s center. The block should measure 12-1/2 square. Repeat Steps 2-7 for the remaining blocks, using the Quilt Assembly Diagram for proper fabric placement. Adding the Sashing and Cornerstones Step 8: Arrange the blocks together as indicated in the Quilt Assembly Diagram. Sew each row together, using sashing strips between each block and at the beginning and end of each row. Press seams toward the sashing. Repeat to make three block rows. Step 9: Gather three cornerstone squares and two sashing strips. Sew each row together, using cornerstones between each sashing strip and at the beginning and end of each row. Press seams toward the sashing. Repeat to make four sashing rows. Step 10: Sew the sashing and block rows together, pinning and nesting the seams. Press seams open or to the sashing. page 7

8 Adding Borders Step 11: Sew the side inner borders to the sides of the quilt center. Press toward the borders. Sew the 3-1/2 cornerstones to opposite ends of each top and bottom inner border. Press toward the border. Sew to top and bottom of the quilt center. Press toward the borders. Step 12: Sew the side middle borders to the sides of the quilt center. Press toward the borders. Sew the 2-1/2 cornerstones to opposite ends of each top and bottom middle border. Press toward the border. Sew to top and bottom of the quilt center. Press toward the borders. Add the Mitered Border Step 13: Center and pin one side outer border to the quilt top. Sew the border, starting and stopping 1/4 from each end of the quilt top. Repeat for three other sides. Note: borders will extend beyond the quilt s edge. page 8

9 Step 14: Fold the quilt diagonally, right sides together and align two of the borders directly on top of each other. Use your ruler to draw a line from the corner of the quilt to the edge of the border. Step 15: Trim off excess border along line and sew 1/4 in from the edge. Begin at the point where your border stitching had ended and sew to the edge of the border. Your quilt top is complete! Baste, quilt, bind and enjoy! page 9
