Greetings and Welcome to our 4th doll in the Decadent Tea Party (DTP) series --- Aeoliah.

The beautiful flowers used on her bodice are available from Mari Smith (email address is msmithwelch@yahoo.com ).

2 Greetings and Welcome to our 4th doll in the Decadent Tea Party (DTP) series --- Aeoliah. So far we have Maree, Elle, Scarlet and on deck is Cleo. These are all part of the 250 kits left to ship before January lst. (Part of - not in *addition* too <G>). So no worries - I am not putting new dolls out as kits - simply finishing up the series so it is done. PREPERATION 1. Paint your doll shoes. I use a light coat of fingernail polish (2x). 2.

html --------------------------------------- SMOCKING This technique will be used for her under bodice and sleeve cuffs. 1.

3 PREPERATION 1. Paint your doll shoes. I use a light coat of fingernail polish (2x). 2. Assemble your doll, glue to doll stand and put a simple tight tube petticoat on doll to cover assembly. IF you do not know how to do these basics - please check out my YOUTUBE videos... which show how to attach to doll stand. I also have a huge array of how to s on my website from years ago that will keep you busy reading for weeks... Home%20Page.html SMOCKING This technique will be used for her under bodice and sleeve cuffs. 1. Take appropriate size of batiste square, glue one side edge to back. 2. Fray the other side edge with pin and gently pull horizontal threads. You can make as many rows of *smocking* as you desire. This technique is time consuming - but oh so worth it! Batiste gathers like a dream and is 100% cotton. Because I photograph as I design - it is VERY IMPORTANT to read thru tutorial BEFORE you start doll incase of change. Page 3

UNDERBODICE 1. Cut 4 x 3 piece of batiste. Smock. Glue on doll.

I often put little dots of glue under gathers to keep in place. 4.

4 UNDERBODICE 1. Cut 4 x 3 piece of batiste. Smock. Glue on doll. (Position like photo to right). **NOTE** I glued the bodice on tight to her chest, and then just let the extra batiste fall down front. This does not show on finished doll. SKIRT 1. Cut 10 x 5 piece of red print cotton. Turn very bottom edge under to wrong side and glue for hem. 2. Measure 2 from each side, and stick pin. 3. Gather or hand pleat between pins, so bulk of material is at doll s front. I often put little dots of glue under gathers to keep in place. 4. Turn under one side edge and glue to wrong side. Then overlap edges and glue flat. This effectively forms her tube skirt. 5. Put skirt on doll, pulling excess material to back. Fold in all excess (see photo) and glue in place. (think of making an inverted seam) Page 4

Back Bodice 1. Cut 1 x 1 1/2 rectangle. Turn under bottom edge to wrong side and glue. 2.

4. Pull edge of gold trim to fray, and glue around bodice. 5.

Glue to front for a faux corset lacing. Glue on beads as desired for decoration. SLEEVES 1.

.. to give the little hole arms time to completely adhere to pipecleaner. Next.

This also gives a bit of *bulk* on arm to look more realistic. 2.

5 Back Bodice 1. Cut 1 x 1 1/2 rectangle. Turn under bottom edge to wrong side and glue. 2. Glue this on doll s back, around to side (think side seam). 3. Cut out front bodice pattern. Glue on doll s front. 4. Pull edge of gold trim to fray, and glue around bodice. 5. Finally glue pearls into trim holes, cut small square of velvet ribbon and glue on black thread. Glue to front for a faux corset lacing. Glue on beads as desired for decoration. SLEEVES 1. Glue arms onto pipecleaners. I do this FIRST... before I even start on doll... to give the little hole arms time to completely adhere to pipecleaner. Next... wrap white florist tape around arm/porcelain and pipecleaner to act as a bandage. This also gives a bit of *bulk* on arm to look more realistic. 2. Insert arms into doll s torso, and check length cutting off any excess. Remember - her wrist should fall to crotch level. 3. Cut 3 x 3 piece of batiste for sleeve. (following prior directions) and glue on arm for undersleeve. **NOTE** You want a completely smocked sleeve... depending on how TIGHT you pull the material - you may need to make your batiste a bit longer then my size above. 4. Cut rectangle of red velvet out for top of arm.

Overlap seams and glue on upper arm. 5. SLEEVE TOPPER.

Cut small slit in bottom and slide doll s arm thru.

6 4. Cut rectangle of red velvet out for top of arm. Size depends on your doll s arm length (see photo). Overlap seams and glue on upper arm. 5. SLEEVE TOPPER... Cut out square of 3 x 3. Gather around entire edge and pull tight. Cut small slit in bottom and slide doll s arm thru. **NOTE** if necessary, run a few stitches thu sleeve *puff* to keep shape desired. 6. SLEEVE DRAPE... Cut 3 x 3 square of batiste. Turn all edges to wrong side and glue. Glue pulled gold trim on raw edges (backside). Cut small snip at top to slide on arm of doll, then glue in place. **NOTE** I glued my arms into doll s torso.. and THEN added on the sleeve drape. IF you are a beginner - you might want to put sleeve drapes on arm FIRST... THEN glue arm into doll s torso. Page 6

DRAPING 1. Pin your sleeves out of the way for now. **COVER** dolls head with plastic baggie to protect doll while dressing and spray draping. The face is painted with acrylics and chalks.

Take your skirt material and gather a bit of the front so it fits nicely in her hand. Pin in place. 3. Let down your arm sleeves and position material as desired. Pin in place. 4.

DECORATION 1. Cut small piece of lace to glue on for collar. I didn t like the big gaping holes I used - so sent nicer (tigher weave) lace in your kit. 2. Glue on beads/pearls as desired.

7 DRAPING 1. Pin your sleeves out of the way for now. **COVER** dolls head with plastic baggie to protect doll while dressing and spray draping. The face is painted with acrylics and chalks... then double sealed. BUT if you get glue on face or scrape fingernail across face - PAINT WILL COME OFF! Treat her like a piece of art - and she will stay beautiful! 2. Take your skirt material and gather a bit of the front so it fits nicely in her hand. Pin in place. 3. Let down your arm sleeves and position material as desired. Pin in place. 4. Take your hair spray and LIGHTLY mist (2x) to hold material in place. **REMEMBER** spray the material like you would your own hair. Don t glob on one big squirt - gently mist entire area! DECORATION 1. Cut small piece of lace to glue on for collar. I didn t like the big gaping holes I used - so sent nicer (tigher weave) lace in your kit. 2. Glue on beads/pearls as desired. 3. I ran gold nail polish along the edge of lace collar for a bit of pretty color. 4. Don t forget about rings, earrings etc! IF you are new - you might want to wait with decoration until you finish WIGGING her! Page 7

WIGGING 1. Using size 2 knitting needle, wrap damp viscose around rod, making THICK curls. 2. Take your hair straightener, clamp on - drying hair and setting curl.

Gently, with a corsage pin - pull curl apart and carefully spread into waves. Glue around doll s head.

Then tie knot at one end. Pin to your pants leg, and braid. Glue braid on doll s head.

Squish together one curl (see photo) and glue to back of head for spiral bun. 7. Add pearls etc to decorate as desired!

8 WIGGING 1. Using size 2 knitting needle, wrap damp viscose around rod, making THICK curls. 2. Take your hair straightener, clamp on - drying hair and setting curl. Let cool and slide off rod. I used 6!!! curls only for entire head! 3. Gently, with a corsage pin - pull curl apart and carefully spread into waves. Glue around doll s head. You can also use pleater if for similar effect. 4. Take thin (but long) length of viscose and mist. Then tie knot at one end. Pin to your pants leg, and braid. Glue braid on doll s head... I tucked under a few curls to blend in hairdo. 5. Glue pulled gold trim around head for crown. 6. Squish together one curl (see photo) and glue to back of head for spiral bun. 7. Add pearls etc to decorate as desired! **HINT** I often glue on pearls or gold beads, and then dot them with nail polish to get many different colors and hues! Thats it!
