3 Mini Wreath Set Makes two sets of four sizes Making the Wreath Set: 1. Using templates, cut the number of each wreath and lining from fabrics indicated on each template between [ ]. 2. Center a Fabric A XLarge lining right sides together on a Fabric A XLarge wreath. Stitch along the inner seam line (dotted line circle on wreath template. Repeat with remaining linings on their like size and color wreaths. DIAGRAM 1 3. Cut out the centers, leaving about 1/4" seam allowance. Clip the curve about every 1/8" to 1/4". Do not clip all the way to the seam. DIAGRAM 2 4. Turn the piece right sides out. Work the piece until the seam is flat then press. Topstitch 1/8" around opening. If you want to later remove these stitches, use a long basting stitch and do not backstitch. DIAGRAM 3 5. Layer Fabric A and Fabric B XLarge wreaths right sides together. Stitch 1/4" seam around the curved outer edge, as marked by a dotted line on the wreath template. Trim outer curves and clip inner curves. Turn piece right sides out. Repeat with another XLarge wreath. Sew together two Large wreaths, each with a Fabric A and Fabric B side. Sew together two Medium wreaths, each with a Fabric B and Fabric C side. Sew together two Small wreaths, each with a Fabric C and Fabric D side. DIAGRAM 4 6. Turn wreaths right sides out. Poke out curves and press flat. DIAGRAM 5 7. With an invisible or overcast stitch, hand-stitch half of each inner circle closed. Stuff that side with polyfil. Continue to stuff and sew the opening closed. Leave about 1/4" open and add the last bit of fiberfil. 8. Tie a knot on one end of a piece of metallic cording or baby rickrack. Stuff the knot into the opening, hiding it. Take a stitch or two to hold it in place, but do not close up the opening yet. Wrap the cording or rickrack around the wreath. When you reach where you started, tie another knot, trim excess and stick that end in the opening. Stitch opening closed. DIAGRAM 6 Repeat on remaining wreaths. In the samples the small and large wreaths have red metallic cording and the medium and XLarge wreaths have gold metallic baby rickrack wrapped around them. Remove lining basting stitches if they show. 9. Place the large wreaths on base of candle holder. Place candle firmly in holder then stack the large, medium and small wreaths around base of each candle. WARNING: THIS IS FOR DECORATION ONLY. REMOVE WREATHS BEFORE LIGHTING CANDLES. To Use as Christmas Tree Ornaments or Gift Accent: 1. Cut a 6" piece of embroidery floss. Thread the floss through some fabric on back of a wreath. Pull floss so ends are even and tie together to form hanger. 2. Make a bow from ribbon and tack to front of wreath. 7 Reversible Tree Skirt Sewing Instructions: 1. Create template by measuring in 9-1/8" on both edges of a 20-5/8" side of the paper. Trim corners from the piece, from the marks down to the bottom corners as shown in diagram. Template Diagram 2. Sew each half-length strip of Fabrics A, B, C, D, E and F end-to-end to a like full-length strip creating strips that are at least 60" long.. 3. Sew the 60" length strips into one each of the panels shown. Diagram 1 Alternate placement of seams within the panel so all the seams aren't all on the same area of the panels. Template Diagram Diagram 1 4. From each panel of strips, cut four wedges using the template created in Step 1. Diagram 2 Diagram 2 5. Referring to the picture, piece the red/gold wedges into a circle, alternating the coloring. Do the same with the blue/gold wedges. 6. Spray baste or pin baste the blue/gold side right side up on the quilt batting. Trim the batting even with the tree skirt top. Spray or pin baste the red/gold side right sides up on the batting, being careful to line up the red and blue sides. 7. Quilt or tie as desired. 8. Cut a slit up the center of one wedge to the center. Cut out batting from center. 9. Stitch Fabric A 2-1/2" strips together end-to-end. Press strip in half lengthwise with right sides out. 10. 9 Re-usable Gift Tag Making the Top Window Section: 1. Using Window Template, trace the window shape on wrong side of (1) 4" x 5" Fabric A piece. DIAGRAM 1 2. Lay the marked Fabric A piece right sides together with remaining 4" x 5" Fabric A piece. Stitch layers together along the marked lines. DIAGRAM 2 3. Using small sharp scissors, cut an X in the window area. DIAGRAM 3 Trim the fabric within the window to about 1/8". DIAGRAM 4 4. Turn the piece right sides out. Finger press the seam flat. Topstitch 1/8" around window. DIAGRAM 5 5. Trim both layers of the top piece to 3-1/2" x 4-1/2", so the window is centered horizontally and is 3/4" from the bottom edge and 1" from the top edge. 10 Re-usable Gift Tag Making the Top Window Section (continued): 6. Fold both layers of the top edge 1/4" in, so the 1/4" hems are between the two layers of the top. Press then topstitch 1/8" from top edge. DIAGRAM 7 7. Fold the ribbon in half, so the ends meet. Pin the fold of the ribbon on left side of the front section, about 1/4" down from the top edge - let a bit of ribbon hang over the edge so it will be caught in the seam. DIAGRAM 8 Options: Place ribbon on right side. Sew ends of ribbon into seam so ribbon forms a loop. Adding the Back: 1. Fold the 4-1/2" x 6-1/2" Fabric B piece in half, right sides out, so it is 4-1/2" wide and 3-1/4" tall. DIAGRAM 9 Options: To use as a hanging name tag delete ribbon from Fabric A piece. Cut ribbon long enough to hang around neck then place ribbon centered inside top fold of Fabric B piece. Pin in place until side seams are stitched. 2. Lay the Fabric B back, on the right side of the prepared Fabric A window, top edges even. DIAGRAM 10 Stitch around the right and left sides and bottom with a 1/4" seam, reinforcing the top edge on each side and where the ribbon is anchored. DIAGRAM 11 Trim seam and excess ribbon to between 1/8" and 1/4". 3. Turn the piece right sides out. Push out seams and press edges flat. 4. Topstitch 1/4" from sides and bottom. DIAGRAM 12 Finishing: 1. Cut a piece of light weight cardboard, poster board or card stock to 2" x 3-1/2". Stationary and discount stores also usually carry tear-apart business cards that can be used as well. Put the card in the card holder and write your message where it can be seen in the window. Can also use with gift cards, business cards and dollar bills. 2. If worried about the card or cash falling out, take a few long basting stitches across the top where they can easily be removed allowing the gift tag to be reused.
