(2013); Represented Philips (Consumer Lifestyle) in its acquisition of a leading Chinese kitchen appliance company, Povos Electric Appliance (Shanghai) Co., in a transaction valued at more than RMB2 billion (2011); and Represented Siemens related to its wind power-related joint ventures with Shanghai Electric, a state-owned listed company ( ). Other major industry clients include Aker Solutions, Ashmore, Hines, Kvaerner, Nan Fung Group, Related Companies and Singapore Airline. Norman also has extensive experience in fund formation practice and is the main coordinator for the Shanghai based fund practice. Norman has been invited as an expert to participate in the private equity fund legislative efforts of the Shanghai municipal government. Recent transactions include: AMP: the formation of a joint venture fund; Darby Private Equity: formation of a RMB fund; Fosun: formation of RMB funds Golden Brick Capital: formation of FIP and RMB funds Guohe: formation of a real estate fund; Guosheng and CLSA: formation of a joint venture fund; 5
6 ICBCI: formation of its various RMB funds in China; Oriza: formation of its various RMB and USD funds; TPG: formation of its RMB funds in Shanghai and Chongqing; VKC: formation of the first USD fund; and Yunfeng: formation of its RMB funds. Before rejoining Fangda Partners, Norman worked in the M&A and Corporate Finance departments of Sullivan & Cromwell and Skadden Arps both in New York. When practicing in New York, Norman worked on many US public and private M&A transactions and public and private offerings of equity, debt and convertible securities, particularly in the energy and financial institutions sectors. Norman graduated with a JD degree from Columbia University School of Law where he was a Kent Scholar (highest distinction). Norman also holds a master of law degree with distinction from Fudan University School of Law and a bachelor of law degree from the University of International Business & Economics (highest distinction). Norman has been recognized as a Leading Lawyer in China under the categories of Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity/Venture Capital by the IFLR The Guide to the World's Leading Financial Law Firms (for every year since 2011) and Mergers & Acquisitions in Chambers 2017 and Norman also authored the China chapter of the 10 th edition of the Mergers & Acquisitions Review.
