FEB. 24, 2014 The Physical Space Inventry (PSI) is a database f all spaces in every building wned r used by the University. The PSI data is integral t numerus campus peratins and respnsibilities, including but nt limited t, prperty cntrls, space management, statistical analysis, crdinatin f IT, varius State and Federal reprting requirements and rm scheduling. PSI is als the fundatin f the University s wrk rder system, and prvides the basis fr tens f millins f dllars in federally-spnsred research verhead csts. UA Facilities Management relies upn the wrk rder system fr nearly all facets f prject cmpletin, including but nt limited t, the purchase f building supplies and equipment, labr and materials cst accunting, tracking building service cntracts, the manufacture f building-wide keying systems, crdinatin f building management and fire alarm systems, the rdering f signage and varius types f asset management reprts. COORDINATION & SUBMITTALS PROCESS FEB. 24, 2014 The review and crdinatin f PSI deliverables is an iterative prcess between the Cnsultant and the Office f Campus Planning (OCP) that begins during Schematic Design and cntinues thrugh each subsequent prject phase until accepted in their final frm by OCP. All wayfinding, rm numbering and rm naming shall be cmpleted within the cnstructin dcuments issued fr bidding. T ensure the timely and accurate cmpletin f bid dcuments, multiple reviews within each prject phase are likely t be required. Prject schedules prvided by the Cnsultant t the University shall indicate line items fr the iterative submissin, review and acceptance f PSI materials at each prject phase. OCP will prvide the Cnsultant with a respnse t PSI submittals within ten (10) wrking days f each submittal. PSI deliverables shall be frmatted in accrdance with University standards and the fllwing schedule: Phase PSI Cntent File Schematic Design 1. These cnventins simultaneusly address the needs f three specific areas. They are: 1. The Physical Space Inventry (PSI) drawings and the PSI database. 2. The architectural r engineering flr plan. 3. Signage and wayfinding cnsideratins establishing a basis fr rm signage and wayfinding that is intuitive and lgical fr visitrs and ccupants, as well as maintenance and emergency persnnel. Guidelines fr signage and wayfinding can be fund in the Standards sectin at: B. Flr designatins area: SB B SUB BASEMENT BASEMENT 01 FIRST FLOOR 02 SECOND FLOOR THIRD NINETY-NINTH FLOOR M R MEZZANINE ROOF C. Rm numbers shall nt exceed six characters. The State University Cnstructin Fund accepts a maximum f (6) ALPHA, NUMERIC, r ALPHA- NUMERIC characters with n embedded spaces. D. 6 Divisin f Finance and Business Office f Campus Planning E. PSI rm numbers must have flr, rm, and sub elements. The subsets and sub-subsets are ptinal depending n the situatin (explained later). Subsets f a rm r space can be: A, B, C, D, E Z and sub-subset can be 1, 2, 3 9. FLOOR ROOM SUB-ELEMENT SUB-SUB-ELEMENT (Example: 0101A1) F. All architects and engineers cntracted r therwise, will fllw the rm/space number cnventins herein fr any new cnstructin r renvatins. In their design, architects and engineers must cnsider placement f signs and leave adequate wall space fr signage and wayfinding. Guidelines fr signage and wayfinding can be fund in the Standards sectin at: G. Cnsultants shuld submit rm numbering layuts with the SD, DM and CD submissins fr UA review. PSI drawings shuld be submitted directly fllwing the CD submissin fr UA review. Cnsultants shuld prvide UA with a final PSI submissin with their Recrd Drawings submissin. II. PSI DRAWING REQUIREMENTS A. PSI Drawing Backgrund 1. PSI drawings are typically un-scaled, un-dimensined drawings used fr real estate and ther general purpse uses. 2. The PSI database draws n the PSI drawings t capture all the nngraphical infrmatin abut each space in a building including SF inf. 3. The PSI rm number is the key field that links the rm n the plan t the infrmatin abut that rm in the database. 4. The PSI rm numbers and the Architectural rm numbers are identical and identify the same space within a building. B. Rm numbers shall nt exceed six characters. The State University Cnstructin Fund accepts a maximum f (6) ALPHA, NUMERIC, r ALPHA- NUMERIC characters with n embedded spaces. C. As required by the State University Cnstructin Fund (SUCF), spaces lcated between multiple entrances with cmmn crridrs, nt separated by drs, must be treated as a single space using nly ne rm number. F. Vestibules and ancillary spaces shall be designated with a whle number with the exceptin f crridrs. Spaces and rms pening frm a vestibule shall, in clckwise manner, receive apprpriate sub designatins f the vestibule number. III. RULES FOR NUMBERING ARCHITECTURAL FLOOR PLANS A. Numbering shall begin frm the main pint f entry n the main flr. 1. Identify the main entry pint (i.e. vestibule r entryway). Entryways r vestibules shuld be numbered Mving in a clckwise directin, number the crridrs leading frm the main entry pint. The number f the first crridr wuld be (See belw Numbering Crridrs ). 2. Assuming there are n ther crridrs, the first space ff the crridr and nearest t the main pint f entry wuld be dr The next cnsecutive even number wuld be assigned t the next space n the same side f the crridr. Label rms/spaces with even numbers n ne side and dd numbers n the ther mving clckwise arund the flr, ascending frm the main pint f entry. As a general practice, label dd numbers n the utside f the building and even numbers n the inside/cre. B. A rm with multiple drs that access the same crridr will have a single rm tag and rm number. The drs will have different dr numbers. C. The main rm that is entered ff f the crridr shall fllw the numerical sequence f the crridr, and will nt use an alphabetic subset. D. Rms that are part f a suite are numbered with the apprpriate alphabetical subset (e.g. 0101A, B, C, etc.) ascending in a clckwise manner frm the suite entrance. E. N rm numbers that pen nt a main crridr shall have an alpha designatin after the rm number, except in situatins where a lgical sequence f numbers has been exhausted. (This situatin is mst likely t ccur when there has been a partial renvatin f a flr). F. Under special circumstances, letter prefixes may be used. This culd ccur when a large space has been subdivided int smaller areas such as cubicles. The cubicle wuld be labeled with the letter prefix C, fllwed by a dash and the cubicle number (e.g. C-10). G. During prductin f cnstructin dcuments, rm numbers may be skipped at the crners f crridrs. Vertical spaces are treated as a space at each flr and as such, are numbered n each flr. 2. A materials lift is cnsidered an elevatr in regards t numbering. 3. Stairs and elevatrs fllw the cnventin f: A tw digit numeric sequence indicating the flr (01, 02, 03, etc.) A tw character item designatr indicating stairs r elevatr (ST fr stairs r EL fr elevatr). A ne r tw digit item designatin number indicating the numeric sequence f the item (1, 2, 3 10, 11, 12, etc.). FLOOR TYPE NUMBER (Examples: 01ST1, 01ST11) I. Special Cnditins fr Pdium Basement and Sub-basement 1. Define ambiguus spaces between buildings n pdium. 2. Discuss with building managers re: histrical and current uses f spaces. 3. Select a dividing line based n infrmatin prvided by the building managers. 4. Number f rms starting at the NW crner, g clckwise. Residence Hall rm numbering shall fllw the PSI standard cnventins except as nted belw. B. Guidelines fr signage and wayfinding can be fund in the Standards sectin at: II. Other than the primary entry space t a residence suite which will carry a fur digit whle number like any academic space, the sub-rms that are part f a residence suite are numbered with a dash and the apprpriate numeric subset (e.g , , , etc.). B. Ascending in a clckwise manner frm the residence suite entrance, the entry r main space will be designated the suite number (e.g belw). DRAWING FORMAT REQUIREMENTS FEB. 24, 2014 The University at Albany has develped the fllwing standard fr Physical Space Inventry (PSI) CAD drawings: Drawings are t be submitted in AutCAD 2013 r 2014 file frmat. Drawings are t use the attached layering standard. Each drawing is t be plylined t the FICM (inside wall) standard and the BOMA (center wall) rentable standard. The FICM area n the rm tag shuld be labeled NSF. The BOMA area shuld be labeled BSF. A grss plyline is t be drawn alng the exterir perimeter f each flr plate per FICM standards. Xrefs are nt permitted. Purge and audit drawings prir t submittal. There shuld be n custm features r prgram rutines incrprated in any AutCAD drawing files submitted. If AutCAD vertical prducts are used t generate the drawing files, the cnsultant shall indicate the need fr a specific bject enabler that can be readily dwnladed frm Autdesk. Drawing sets are t cntain ne file fr each flr (level) including the rf regardless f whether there are typical flrs/areas r nt, and shall cntain nly the fllwing PSI infrmatin: Interir and exterir walls Windws and drs. All dr swings t be 90. Built in casewrk, lab equipment and fixed furniture such as fume hds and wrk benches Stairs, ramps, elevatrs and plumbing fixtures Rf plan with penthuses Clumns, clumn grids and clumn bubbles Paper Space: A Title Blck (prvided by OCP) shuld be placed n layuts sized 11 x 17 and 24 x 36. The flr plans shuld be scaled fr maximum readability f plans and rm tags. Mdel Space: A Building Infrmatin blck (prvided by OCP) shuld be lcated a clse distance belw the bttm right crner f the flr plate. Mdel Space: The University s AutCAD PSI Layering Standards chart (prvided by OCP) shuld be lcated belw the flr plate but nt visible in paper space. Mdel Space: Verify accuracy and cmpleteness f wrk utilizing a rm schedule (sample prvided by OCP) with fields ppulated frm infrmatin in rm tags (refer t Addendum B, Creating a Rm Schedule). Schedule t be lcated a clse distance alng the lngest side either t the right f r belw the flr plate. N duplicate rm numbers shall exist in the final prduct. Rm numbers are t cnfrm t Rm Numbering Standard as indicated by PSI Rm Numbering Standards. Rm tags (prvided by OCP) are t be cmpletely cntained within the clsed rm plyline where pssible leaders shuld be used sparingly. Rm tags shall be anntative and cntain space descriptin, rm number (within a clsed plyline), net square ftage & ceiling height with each n a separate layer. The rm tags als cntain building name, building number and flr number. Althugh this infrmatin is nt visible n the plans, it is required t ppulate the rm schedule. Tags need t be legible n all layuts. On the 11 x 17 layut, the rm number and area shuld be visible. If necessary fr prper scaling and legibility f the plan, the area layer(s) can be turned ff in this layut. CREATING A ROOM SCHEDULE FEB. 24, 2014 A rm schedule is t be created fr each PSI drawing and lcated in mdel space, t the right r belw the flr plate. The schedule shuld cntain fields ppulated frm attributes included in the rm tags prvided by OCP. A sample schedule will als be prvided by OCP. A rm schedule is created using Data Extractin and can be updated if changes are made t the plan. Data Extractin can als be used t create the schedule as a Micrsft Excel spreadsheet. REVIT TO AUTOCAD CONVERSION FEB. 24, 2014 The fllwing standards have been develped fr cnverting Revit flr plan views int CAD PSI drawings: PSI drawing sets are t cntain each f the flrs (levels) including the rf. The apprpriate Revit flr plan views shuld be cpied and prepared fr exprting int CAD. When making a cpy f the flr plan views, click n the view t be cpied, right click, click duplicate view, chse the duplicate ptin rather than duplicate with detailing. This will make cleaning up the flr plan fr cnversin much simpler. Rms in the new views can then be tagged using the tag all nt tagged buttn and chsing rm tags frm the list. All unnecessary elements and categries in the view shuld be hidden. PSI drawings shall cntain nly the fllwing infrmatin: Interir and exterir walls Windws and drs Built in casewrk, lab equipment and fixed furniture such as fume hds and wrk benches Stairs, ramps, elevatrs and plumbing fixtures Rf plan and penthuses Clumns, clumn grids and clumn bubbles All dr swings t be 90. Chse Lad settings frm file Click Yes when asked Are yu sure yu want t cntinue?. Brwse t the lcatin f the University s standard layers text file. Click Open.
