Ohio St., Fortville, IN Meeting Minutes, May 6th, 2018 The May club meeting was held at Minnetrista in Muncie, Indiana. Club Vice President Mike James opened the meeting and welcomed the following members: Dave Rittenhouse, Mark Hoyt, Joe Coulson, Steve Riggs, and Jim Durr. Dick Cole was believed to be having health issues again, so please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Jim Durr gave the treasurer s report for May, and the club continues to maintain a positive bank balance without much activity in the last month. Dave Rittenhouse announced that he would be talking to Martin Van Zandt about making new club t-shirts and sweatshirts. Harold Neal did an excellent job selling the remainder of our stock of club logo clothing at the January Show. Thank you, Harold, and to those who have made purchases. The meeting minutes were approved as published in the January through April newsletters. Joe Coulson apologized for getting behind in publishing. Joe went through a busy and stressful period of changing jobs in addition to a fight with bronchitis, but is back on schedule again. Please send in your club dues if you have not already done so. A reminder note will be sent out along with the May newsletter. Thanks for your continued support of our club. Mike James made a motion to donate $100 to the Cancer Research fund in Ron Ashby s name. The motion was seconded and approved. 4 Midwest Glass Chatter May 2018 Page 4 Bill Knepp s Bottle Exhibit at MCHS The fabulous life-time Indiana beer bottle collection of well-known collector, Bill Knepp, was on display at the Madison County Historical Society (MCHS) earlier this year. Bill volunteers at the MCHS during the week. The display occupied three rooms of the MCHS museum located at 15 West 11th Street, Anderson, Indiana. I had the opportunity to visit with Bill, and see the display on one of its last available days back in February. On the following two pages are just a very small portion of the pictures that I took. Someone needs to encourage Bill to write a book or at least catalog his collection for future generations! The person in the photo below is Bill himself. Joe Coulson

8 Midwest Glass Chatter May 2018 Page 8 Update from Marty Troxell: Ok, Muncie is over & done. Time to get to it! Lakeview will be our food vendor again this year. In an effort to make it easy on us this year I think they will be offering Biscuits & Gravy &/or a breakfast sandwich of some kind this year. Be nice too, because we will be getting an earlier start! That s right Dealer only time is 7:30 9:00 am this year, June 9th, Some folks come in early & though there is no room hopping, we still socialize. Thursday, shopping & maybe a few drinks, dinner may be with people. Friday ramps up with a big relish tray & folks bringing wine or liquor from their own regions (at Doublehead Trading Company), shopping the downtown merchants & taking over (pretty much) a restaurant, we usually have people for dinner Friday night. Saturday is Showtime! But that s not all. You can shop around downtown (peeps put stuff in their booths all the time), maybe a cocktail in my shop, with dinner/show n tell & Lakeview Restaurant around 6PM. Some slight changes, requests & refinements. There will be beans in the field this year, so be very careful not to park in the crop. If you want to park a semi truck, talk to me 1st. We will not be parking close to any buildings this year. If the grounds are soft you may have to carry your goods to some table areas (we are praying, I have donated another 10% of my soul again). We had some confusion over tables being moved & the folks that rent us tables would prefer them to remain where they are set up. So don't move any table without authorization please. RV's will need to post a $75 refundable damage deposit, Camping in tent or RV $20 per night. There will be access to the bathrooms on site, no shower available. Online table registration here! Another note from Marty Troxell: Dedicated to the late Ron Ashby who's enthusiasm & encouragement for the hobby & this show were without bounds. Greatly missed.
