1 API C2 / SC 17 SUBCOMMITTEE ON SUBSEA PRODUCTION SYSTEMS API 17E SPECIFICATION for SUBSEA UMBILICALS REVISION TASK GROUP STATUS JUNE 29, 2011

2 1. INTRODUCTION 2. STATUS The ISO Specification was adopted back as the Fourth Edition of API 17E on October 2010 with an effective date of April 1, The API TG, from the start, intended to begin the revision process soon after publication. On April 19, 2011 an SRRR form was submitted to API with a planned completion date of May 16, As we progress, Tom Williams will submit a NWI to the ISO Committee. The TG will plan on meeting monthly to complete the revision. The proposed revision will deal with the following: Review API clarification matrix from the DIS/FDIS where we confirmed it would be looked at in the next Revision. Solicit all ISO/API Clarifications submitted by the umbilical manufacturers, the steel tube suppliers, and the electric cable suppliers to ascertain if we can resolve these, or not. Review calculation methodology for wall thickness calculation Review existing wording on dynamic service/analysis to determine if more is required. Specify if dynamic considerations are for permanent or temporary installation in order to assist IWOCs in API 17G Fluid compatibility with steel tubes - LDHI Cursory review of document for any updates 3. MEMBERSHIP Task Group The task group has added three new members: Chris Kassner (Chevron), Andre Chartier (Oceaneering Umbilical Solutions), and Leo Caffrey (Aker Solutions). As reported at the 2011 winter meeting, Tom Williams (Shell) will take over from Ron Dee (Shell) as the ISO Project Lead. -1- June 29, 2011
