2 1. INTRODUCTION API 17F Third Edition was published in May The latest edition was promoted for publication following the failure of ISO to publish an update. There were a number of issues that were not addressed in this edition that were identified during the publication phase of the current edition. A decision was made to tables those proposed changes until the next edition. In order to increase co-ordination, the plan is to have the work led by Christopher Curran (CJC Enterprises) in Houston, there is also a working group in Europe lead by Trond Bertman (Statoil). 2. STATUS API 17F Third Edition was published in May A SRRR form has been submitted to API to start work on the Fourth Edition immediately. A regular meeting pattern has been established in Europe and USA, collaboration is being achieved by use of web based technology. The draft for ballot was submitted by the working group to API in December The draft was balloted and the ballot closed on 7 th March The ballot was successful with only one Negative vote. On further discussion, this negative vote was changed to Affirmative. A total of 472 comments were received, each of these has been reviewed and addressed by the working group. On 1 st June 2017, the final version of the proposed API 17F, 4 th Edition, together with the comment matrix, was circulated for final approval. ANTICIPATED NEW WORK ITEMS The following work items are currently planned to be included, these expected to grow as the work develops: General update to focus on clearly defined requirements, less text book and general description of the various units comprising the system. Where applicable add and/or revise requirements to also suit emerging technologies including subsea factory. Include qualification requirements to topside equipment (Section 9 is for subsea equipment only) Improve clarity of test requirements (e.g. control valve qualification) Include rationale to requirements to clarify the intent. Align definitions and requirements with other relevant standards (e.g. API17D) Clarify test requirements to be applied after maintenance and modifications Revise environmental requirements to suit world wide applications (e.g. storage temperatures for arctic projects) Update according to latest revision of SIIS JIP Update according to SWiG JIP Note: feedback from API 17F working group is the that the document is too detailed and should look more like SIIS JIP input, as such will not be included in this revision of API 17F. Clarify safety requirements Improve communication descriptions and requirements to the communication links 7. PLANS FOR FUTURE MEETINGS Kick-off meeting to be held February Regular sequence of meetings has been scheduled for 2016 (see schedule above). A round of meetings was held to resolve all ballot issues. 8. RESOURCE NEEDS Technical writer to support the work effort has been requested and agreed.
