1 API C2 / SC 17 SUBCOMMITTEE ON SUBSEA PRODUCTION SYSTEMS API 17Y Subsea chemical injection system - Recommended Practice for Design, Testing & Operations REVISION TASK GROUP STATUS JUNE 2017

2 1. INTRODUCTION The goal of this document is to provide operating companies, vendors & design contractors with a document that has the support of the industry, that will form the basis for design and operation of safe, reliable and fit for purpose chemical injection systems for subsea production and development systems, taking into account any learning s from both long term past experiences as well as any learning s from recent experiences. 2. STATUS A second workshop with members is held on Feb 3, Objectives of the workshop is: To review the status of each section To ensure sections are integrated and synchronized To review and agree on target delivery dates for each section individually To address any issues or road-blocks to delivery The workshop was attended by majority of the members and each section was reviewed in details with comments raised and discussed as needed. The CIMV document from Total (joint operator specification) was also reviewed and discussed if it should be included it as an appendix to the document or not. After reviewing the document and discussing with Ed Baniak, it was decided not to include it. High level progress status is presented in Table 1 below. Other subsea equipment related to chemical injection systems are covered in other standards and will be referenced. This session will focus on the specification, design, testing, commissioning, and operation of the CMIVs and has gone through the internal review by the task group. The section is under review by the subcommittee This section is focused on subsea materials. A list of typical materials/chemicals, together -1- [Date]

3 Section 9: Testing Section 10: Commissioning, Startup & Decommissioning Section 11: Maintenance, Field Modifications & Life Extension Section 12: Chemical Management with a standard compatibility matrix will be developed. The system owner is responsible for ensuring that compatibility testing is conducted, which will be stated in the Interfaces section. This is section has gone through the internal review by the task group. The section is under review by the subcommittee Guidance on Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Extended Factory Acceptance Testing (EFAT) and qualification for CIMVs is provided. Available references and typical qualification guidance is captured; the team discussed qualification matches API 17F and 17D. Minimum requirements and recommended additional tests is provided. The section has been reviewed by the task group. The section is under review by the subcommittee Sections for installation, commissioning & precommissioning, start up, and decommissioning are drafted. It was noted that 17A covers decommissioning and flushing subsea systems including the chemical injection system, any identified gaps will be covered in the RP. This section has a new lead who is actively working on it has provided a draft to the task group for review. This section had change of Lead two times; but current committee members are still targeting the agreed deadline The lead works for Shell and is not getting support to continue working on this RP so he is doing it on his own time which has affected the progress slightly. A new help has been identified who will provide support to finish the section by end of June for internal review -2- [Date]

5 4. UPDATED TARGET DATES FOR DELIVERABLES During the workshop each section lead presented progress and the timeline for their sections. High level timeline is presented in Table 3 below. MAJOR ISSUES Several committee members have been resigned due to other commitments, changing jobs or looking for new opportunities. It is a challenge to keep the momentum when so many changes are happening in O&G industry. 6. ANTICAPTED NEW WORK ITEMS None 7. PLANS FOR FUTURE MEETINGS Continue to hold monthly meetings to review the progress on each section and discuss any issues raised. Workshop was found to be very beneficial to motivate session leaders & committee members to progress the sessions. 8. RESOURCE NEEDS Technical writing which will be provided by API 9.
