2 Introduction For gas grid operators, the development of European Standards provides a common sound basis for constructing and operating safe and reliable gas infrastructure in a very cost effective way. Collaboration in standardisation activities offers exchange of experience and knowledge among high level European experts and facilitates the use of the future standards in daily practice by gas companies. The early development of standards regarding new technologies is also a key factor to help their introduction on the market. But there are many other reasons to be a part of the standardisation community!
