A large variety of process steps, with low degrees of automatisation and standardisation, as well as an extremely high number of vehicle variants, with its consequent high logistic demands, has to be mastered as cost-efficiently as possible. Thus, each single production step is constantly checked for its optimisation potential. Progress in efficiency is then often the result of many, only seemingly small steps. Improved ergonomics, the possibilities for automatisation of process steps, the limits for process simulations, optimal ramp-up management are topics under discussion as are the complex organization structures or, the peculiarities in the assembly of electric or hybrid vehicles. With this background, the Automotive Circle International conference Assembly Engineering, which takes place for the third time on 26 and 27 February 2013, again offers its high-level, international networking platform for automotive engineers, to present and discuss newest technical improvements and concepts within automotive final assembly.
