Ruth mainly works on projects targeting energy issues such as demand side management, demand response, smart grids, and sustainable lifestyles. But Ruth has also worked on other technologies such as composite materials, and plastic waste innovations. She has Masters in Anthropology, Sociology, and Society and Technology Studies (STS), and holds a PhD in systemic technological and societal transitions. Previous employers include Maastricht University, Eindhoven Technical University and the Energy research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN). Researcher and advisor on a national project called the Neighbourhood transformer (Buurttransformator), focused on achieving urban regeneration of neighbourhoods, by means of energy efficiency and behavioural change, using energy change as a means to achieve other benefits. Researcher and advisor for the Dutch Council on living environment and infrastructure (RLi) on effective behavioural change policies in energy, waste, food, mobility. 4 develop a tool that would increase societal acceptance of new energy, and a main partner in the FP7 CHANGING BEHAVIOUR project that identified all factors conducive to the success of (energy) Demand Side Management projects and translated them into a toolkit (MECHANISMS) for DSM project leaders. Different practitioners globally are using this toolkit. Assistant Professor Strategic Niche Management Eindhoven Technical University Teacher and researcher on Strategic Niche Management. Researcher Working Group Sewer Overflows 2001 Researcher in the working Group sewer overflows. Client was the Foundation for Scientific Nature and Environmental policy. My role was to investigate the influence of farming strategies on the farmers' acceptance of different technological options. The report was discussed in an interdepartmental lower house committee.
