Keep all glue caps, marker caps, cotton, foam pieces, and other small items out of reach of children who are age 3 or under, as they are a choking hazard. Use nontoxic washable markers only. Watch young children when they are using crayons to be sure they don't put them into their mouths. Have an emergency plan in place in case of injury, ie., someone trained in First Aid procedures, emergency phone numbers on hand, etc.
5 Saving Tips To save money on printing, use a laser jet printer for the black and white pages. Print the color-illustrated pictures in color on an Inkjet picture. Then copy the pictures on a black-andwhite copier, or color copier, respectively. (I would advise against using pages printed from an inkjet printer for children's crafts directly, as these inks can come off. The chemicals in the inks are a safety concern. Make copies that are to be used for children's crafts on a copy machine instead). If you have large classes, using copies of the black and white craft pages and having the children color them will save you money on color printer inks or color copies. Save on stickers by copying the sticker pages onto regular paper (white or colors) and letting the children make the stickers by using restickable glue sticks, or repositionable glue sticks, instead of printing the sticker pages on inkjet sticker sheets. I believe these inkjet sticker sheets are treated with something to prevent the inks from rubbing off, but check with the manufacturer for safety concerns.
6 Cross craft page Color diffusing paper Nontoxic water-based markers Spray bottle Scissors, adult only Color Diffuse Cross Optional: Digital camera if you want to use these completed crosses to make Cross Collage (below) Age 3+. Note: This craft may take 2 class periods if you don't have a lot of craft time, to allow paint/markers to dry before cutting out cross pattern. Prep: Print craft page. Make a copy of the cross pattern onto card stock. Craft: Children use water-based markers to draw a design on the color-diffusing paper to cover much of the area that the cross shape will be cut out of it. Any design will be fine. Help children spray their design with water bottle until colors bleed into each other. Allow to dry. Teacher lays cross pattern over dry design, traces cross pattern and cuts cross shape out. Save scrap pieces for Craft 2 (below). One week before: Digital camera Inkjet photo paper (optional) Scraps saved from Colordiffuse crafts Group Cross Craft for Bulletin Board Cross craft page Shapes cut from color-diffuse crafts (above) Manilla envelope Butcher paper Construction paper Staples/stapler Yardstick Scissors (adult only) Staples/stapler Pencil/Marker Masking tape Glue sticks Sticker letters Photos of children One week before: With parents' permission, take digital photos of children the week before and print on inkjet photo paper or regular printer paper, or ask parents to bring in child's photo for the next week. Age 2+. Prep: Cut paper scraps from leftover pieces of Color-diffusing Cross Crafts (above) into large squares or triangles. Place in envelope. Cover bulletin board with butcher paper (your choice of color). Tape another large sheet of butcher paper to table. Draw giant cross shape on butcher paper using yardstick. Cut "frames" out of construction paper to fit the sizes of children's photos. Group Craft: Let a few children at a time glue shapes to the cross shape. Show them how to overlap them. Stick on letters on the cross to form the words, "Jesus died for us!" or other words. Teacher cuts out cross. Staple cross to bulletin board. Help each child glue their photo onto a "frame". Staple photos to bulletin board around cross. Cross With butterfly Craft Cross with butterfly picture, bw or color Crayons, non-toxic markers Optional: Sticky-back craft jewels Ages 3+. Adapt for ages 2+ by making craft without the jewels, just using it as a coloring page, as the jewels are a choking hazard. Prep: Print and make copies of craft page. Craft: children color cross picture. Help children peel backing off jewels and stick on butterfly or cross. Teacher cuts out crosses for children, if desired.

Craft: Children color page. Write each child's name on the first line of their cross. On the second line write 'him' or 'her'. Another option is to write the me and my. Bulletin Board Idea: Use the color illustrated picture as a bulletin board picture, by writing the name of your class, if you have one, such as 'Cubbies', or just write 'us' on the first line and write the word 'our' on the second line. Place photos of the children around the cross, using simple construction paper "frames" (See directions for Group Cross Craft, above. Prep: Print and make copies onto card stock of both craft pages. Craft: Children color tomb page and stone. Teacher cuts out pull tab and stone. Teacher cuts slit between the cross marks that are on the tomb craft page (Be sure to cut this line straight, as a jagged line will cause the stone to catch). Tape pull-tab to back of stone, between cross marks on stone, overlapping the stone about 1-1/2" vertically, taping only at the top. Slide stone through slit on tomb from the back, bringing stone up to the front and slide bottom of stone down so that its 1/2" lower than the tomb at the bottom, equal with tomb hole at the top. Reposition pulltab and re-tape if necessary. Show children how to pull the tab to "roll" the stone away.
