4 Cutting Measurements include ¼" seam allowances. Border strips are exact length needed. You may want to make them longer to allow for piecing variations. Patterns for appliqué pieces are on page 5. Follow manufacturer s instructions for using fusible web. From rust print fat quarter, cut: 3 (2¼"-wide) strips for binding. 2 (1"-wide) strips. Lay out 2 green print E rectangles, 2 cream print E rectangles, 2 orange print E rectangles, and 2 black print E rectangles as shown. Join rectangles to complete 1 pieced outer border. Make 4 pieced outer borders. 3. Add 1 pieced outer border to each side of quilt. Add 1 cream print F square to each end of remaining pieced outer borders. Add borders to top and bottom of quilt. 4. Position appliqué pieces on quilt as shown in photo on page 3; fuse in place. Machine blanket stitch pieces to background using black thread. 5. Referring to photo and Running Stich Diagram, backstitch pumpkin eyebrows, spider thread, and spider legs using black pearl cotton. Running Stitch Diagram Finishing 1. Layer backing, batting, and quilt top; baste. Quilt as desired. Quilt shown was quilted in the ditch (Quilting Diagram). 2. Join 2¼"-wide rust print strips into 1 continuous piece for straight-grain French-fold binding. Add binding to quilt. 3. Sew buttons on pumpkin for eyes. Sew beads on spiders for eyes.
