SEWING INSTRUCTIONS Use a ¼" seam allowance throughout unless otherwise indicated. Flying Geese Units 1.

Lay out one FG1 block, one 1½" x 9½" Fabric J (Color Blends, Oatmeal) rectangle, and 9½" (horizontal) x 5½" (vertical) Fabric B (Geese Lake Scenic, Tan) rectangle as shown.

Place a marked Fabric J 2" square on a 2" x 3½" rectangle, right sides together. Sew on the drawn line as shown. Trim ¼" away from sewn line and press the triangle toward the corner.

Lay out one 5½" (horizontal) x 9½" (vertical) Fabric B (Geese Lake Scenic, Tan) rectangle, one 1½" x 9½" FG1 block as shown. Join the pieces to make one B2 block. Make and label four B2 blocks.

4 SEWING INSTRUCTIONS Use a ¼" seam allowance throughout unless otherwise indicated. Flying Geese Units 1. Select all (360) Fabric J (Color Blends, Oatmeal) 2" squares and all (180) Fabric C, E, F, G, H, I, K, and L 2" x 3½" rectangles. Block B1 Assembly (make 2) 1. Lay out one FG1 block, one 1½" x 9½" Fabric J (Color Blends, Oatmeal) rectangle, and 9½" (horizontal) x 5½" (vertical) Fabric B (Geese Lake Scenic, Tan) rectangle as shown. Join the pieces to make one B1 block. Make and label two B1 blocks. 2. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the wrong side of all (360) Fabric J (Color Blends, Oatmeal) 2" squares. 3. Place a marked Fabric J 2" square on a 2" x 3½" rectangle, right sides together. Sew on the drawn line as shown. Trim ¼" away from sewn line and press the triangle toward the corner. Repeat on the opposite end of the rectangle to complete a Flying Geese (FG) Unit. Make 180 FG Units. Block B2 Assembly (make 4) 1. Lay out one 5½" (horizontal) x 9½" (vertical) Fabric B (Geese Lake Scenic, Tan) rectangle, one 1½" x 9½" FG1 block as shown. Join the pieces to make one B2 block. Make and label four B2 blocks. Block FG1 Assembly 1. Lay out one each Fabric K, I, F, E, G, and L 2" x 3½" FG units as shown. Join six units together to make one FG1 block. Make and label twelve FG1 blocks. Block FG2 Assembly 1. Lay out one each Fabric H, F, E, G, L, and E 2" x 3½" FG units as shown. Join six units together to make one FG2 block. Make and label ten FG2 blocks. Block B3 Assembly (make 1) 1. Lay out one FG1 block, one 1½" x 9½" Fabric J (Color Blends, Oatmeal) rectangle, and one 5½" (horizontal) x 9½" (vertical) Fabric B (Geese Lake Scenic, Tan) rectangle as shown. Join the pieces to make one B3 block. Make and label one B3 block. Block FG3 Assembly 1. Lay out one each Fabric L, G, E, I, H, and K 2" x 3½" FG units as shown. Join six units together to make one FG3 block. Make and label four FG3 blocks. Block FG4 Assembly 1. Lay out one each Fabric L, C, E, I, H, and K 2" x 3½" FG units as shown. Make and label one F1 block. Quilt Center Row Assembly Refer to the Quilt Assembly diagram on page 7 for the following steps, noting the orientation of each block in the row. All rows should measure 9½" x 49½" when complete. 1. Row 1. Sew five 9½" x 9½" blocks (Blocks F1, C1, H1, B2, D1) and four 1½" x 9½" Fabric J (Color Blends, Oatmeal) rectangles together for Row Row 2. Sew five 9½" x 9½" blocks (Blocks B2, D3, F2, C2, B3) and four 1½" x 9½" Fabric J (Color Blends, Oatmeal) rectangles together for Row 2. Block F2 Assembly (make 4) 1. Lay out one FG1 block, one 1½" x 9½" Fabric J (Color Blends, Oatmeal) rectangle, and one 5½" (horizontal) x 9½" (vertical) Fabric F (Baby Geese, Denim) rectangle, as shown. Join the pieces to make one F2 block. Make and label four F2 blocks. 3. Row 3. Sew pieces together in the following order: Block Row 1, PS Row, Block Row 2, 1½" x 49½" Fabric J (Color Blends, Oatmeal) strip, Block Row 3, PS Row, Block Row 4, 1½" x 49½" Fabric J (Color Blends, Oatmeal) strip, Block Row 5, PS Row, Block Row 6. Quilt Center should measure 49½" x 59½". Quilt Top Assembly 1. Inner Border #1. Sew the Fabric J (Color Blends, Oatmeal) side borders to the quilt center. Sew the Fabric J (Color Blends, Oatmeal) top/bottom borders to the quilt center. 2. Inner Border #2. Sew the Fabric L (Harmony Woven, Frosted Pine) side borders to the quilt center. Sew the Fabric L (Harmony Woven, Frosted Pine) top/bottom borders to the quilt center. 3. Outer Border. Noting orientation, sew the Fabric A (Geese Vignette Patches, Navy) side borders to the quilt center. Sew the Fabric A (Geese Vignette Patches, Navy) top/bottom borders to the quilt center. Quilt top is complete and should measure 66" x 76". Finishing the Quilt 1. If not already done, cut (the backing) Fabric A (Geese Vignette Patches, Navy) into two 84" lengths. Sew the pieces together lengthwise. Press the seam allowance toward one side. 2. Layer the backing (seam placed vertically), batting, and quilt top; baste. Quilt as desired. Trim batting and backing even with the quilt top. 3. Using the 2¼"-wide Fabric I (Feathers, Navy) strips, make double-fold binding and attach it to the quilt.
