IWM fire doors are designed to get the optimal performance from a number of materials combined to perform for high degree of fire protection. The designs of IWM fire doors are evolved from actual testing to ritish Standard 476 part 22 which with methods of determination of resistance to fire of non load bearing element of construction. IWM fire doors satisfy these criteria for required period. Design and construction of IWM fire doors are in accordance with S 476 Part and these designs have been successfully tested in fire research labs in UK. Fire Door Core: IWM adopt both anti-fire particle board and TL core for use in the fabrication of solid core doors under S476 part 22. complex combination of chemical and engineering development has resulted in the superior quality and strength of high performance timber door blanks. Fireproof Design of Fire-Rated Doors: You must be wondering how a simple door can hold back the fire. Well, the credit goes to design and materials used in the door. s said above, all the parts of the door, from its frame to the latch, everything has to be tested. ll the components need to pass the product certification requirements that are approved by the local authority having jurisdiction, local building code, and the fire code etc. Hence fire rated doors are designed and manufactured with great care and precision. The frames of fire rated doors are endowed with fire seals that prevent the fire to spread outside the door. The leaf of the door is also made of materials that prevent the fire or can survive the fire without leaking the fire. The hinges, latch, and door knobs too have to undergo the strenuous fire resistance tests. These doors are installed in walls known as fire walls that too need to be tested for fire and combustion. Moisture content shall be 8% - 12% and density of timber shall be no less than 700kg/m3.. The inner layer is plywood facing the TL fire rated door core while the outer layer plywood/mdf/hdf/hpl could be applied on the fire rated door core to form a aesthetic appearance. 4. Main feature of IWM fire rated door is the mineral core moulded inside the inner frame of leaf. This core is 100% free resistant in addition to being very light in weight and has excellent thermal and acoustic properties. This special core also allows flexibility in manufacturing profiled doors, which forms a unique range of rchitectural series fire doors from TL.. Mineral board lining: Inner frame of leaf is lined on both faces with fire resistant mineral board of thickness shown in sketches, which project beyond the frame member by nearly 1mm for interlocking the core. 6. Mineral board reinforcement: In order to give a better fire rating performance on FD120, additional mineral board are applied on door leaf structure, this will improve the strength and durability of FD Door frame is to be made of hardwood having minimum cross section as shown in the sketch.
