3 Door Configuration and Performance 30 minutes integrity and insulation This approval relates to doorsets having leaves with Type 1 cores of Fen, a proprietary fibrereinforced cementitious material or, Type 2 cores of Mieco, with timber framing, plywood facings, and timber lippings, based on: Primary data ECI Audit test: 2011FE0305 Secondary data 54S00870/TSM G63284/SS/YCG S08MEC02630/IHN S08MEC03952/MW 2009FE FE FE0018 with permissible design options as outlined as follows: Leaf panel The general area of the leaf core may generally comprise either 44mm thick Fen material with tubular voids or, solid Fen Lite of at least 36mm thick. All leaves faced with 3mm thick plywood and an optional decorative wood veneer. Leaf sizes Hinge mounted, single-acting, single-leaf, latched doorsets Type 1 leaf core Leaves shall have an overall area not exceeding 2.3m 2, up to a maximum height of 2400mm or a maximum width of 1000mm. 5 Intumescent leaf edge and door frame seals When leaves are hung in timber frames, a Flexiseal intumescent seal of 20mm wide by 2mm thick shall be recessed into the rear face of the lipping at the top and all vertical leaf edges, including both meeting edges of double-leaf doorset. Alternatively, the 20mm by 2mm Flexiseal intumescent seals may be exposed in the outer lipping face, in which case the seals shall be centrally located in the leaf edge. When leaves are hung in steel or Fen frames, an exposed Flexiseal intumescent seal of 30mm wide by 2mm thick shall be fitted in the centre of the leaf edges opposite the frame members. Additional intumescent protection provided at hinge, latch, concealed closer, and flush bolt positions. Exposed Flexiseal intumescent seals may be presented in PVC sleeves and may incorporate integral brush or blade smoke seal profiles. As an option, for single-leaf single-acting doorsets of leaf size not exceeding 2040mm high by 926mm wide may be fitted with Lorient Type 617 intumescent seals as described in CF341. Solid or laminated timber door frames, single or double-leaves, with or without transom panels of leaf construction Solid or laminated timber frames, of single or double-rebated profiles, finished with decorative wood veneer. At least 69mm by 45mm with a rebate of at least 15mm. Steel or aluminium door frames, with transom panels of leaf construction and without transom rails For applications requiring insulation performance, metal door frames shall only be used where fire risk is designated to be from one direction only, in which case doorsets shall open towards the direction of risk. There is no limitation for applications requiring integrity only. Frames may be of mild steel or, stainless steel hollow profiles with an architrave face of at least 21mm wide and providing a rebate at least 15mm, fully grouted with sand:cement mortar. 6 Glazed apertures One aperture per leaf of sight size sight size up to 0.132m 2, subject to a maximum height of 700mm and a maximum width of 250mm, glazed with Firelite, Pyroshield Safety Clear wire reinforced glass, Pyran S or, Pyran Platinum. Proprietary glazing systems with one aperture per leaf of sight size up to 800mm high by 425mm wide, except for System 630 in CF201, which shall be fitted leaf cut-outs of maximum diameter 462mm. Proprietary glazing systems to be as in Certifire certificates CF184, CF185, CF291, CF316, CF325, CF377, CF5060 (36/6, 36/10, and 36/15 with appropriate types of glass), CF201, CF202 (36/10, and 36/15 and the associated data sheets with appropriate types of glass or, with Pyran Platinum as an option to 5~6mm thick uninsulated types of glass. As a further option, 7mm thick Pyrobelite glass as supported Certifire CF377 and the associated data sheets, may be fitted in the Pyroglaze 30 glazing system as described in CF316. Air transfer grille One LVN20, LVN20S, LVN25, LVN25S, LVV40 or, LVC40 air transfer grille by Lorient Polyproducts fitted per leaf. Decorative finishes Leaves and frames may be finished on all faces and edges with 0.5mm thick wood veneer or, with pvc foil up to 0.5mm thick. Leaf faces and timber door frames, excluding leaf edges and frame rebate faces, may be clad with melamine laminate or Acrovyn. Acrovyn shall not be applied to glazed leaves, unless the glass is fully insulated. Decorative effects Routed designs, timber inlay, planted mouldings and panels. Ironmongery - general All doorsets shall be latched. Leaves may be hung on butt hinges or, Tectus 525 concealed hinges. All hinges bedded on 2mm thick intumescent material. 7 Alternative mortice lock cases, forends, strikes, flush bolts, and hinge blades shall not exceed the approved dimensions and critical components shall be of steel. Mortice lock cases, forends, strikes, flush bolts, and hinge blades, and concealed hinges shall be fully bedded on intumescent material. Latch bolts shall be of steel or steel reinforced brass and engage the strikes by at least 12mm. Flush bolts shall be of steel and the shoots shall engage the strikes by at least 12mm. Closers shall have power ratings suited to the weight and size of the door leaf, and shall be capable of fully closing the leaf from any angle and overcoming the latch. Panic devices, push bar/pad type Items shall entirely surface mounted on the door leaves and operate the spindle of an otherwise standard type of mortice latch by means of a push bar or push pad are unrestricted. Rod operated and rim panic devices Items shall be supported by appropriate fire test data if they replace the tested mortice locks and flush bolts. If there is no supporting test data, rod and rim panic devices shall treated as non-contributory and shall be fitted in addition to the tested and approved mortice locks and flush bolts. Threshold drop down seals Seals shall comprise an aluminium alloy carrier that no wider than 20mm or deeper than 50mm. Carriers shall be fully bedded on intumescent material. Door viewers, maximum diameter 12mm Door viewers shall comprise a steel sleeve and an optical glass lens. For the full thickness of the leaf, the viewer sleeve shall be a friction fit in the leaf or, shall be wrapped in intumescent sheet material or, shall be fully bedded on intumescent sealant of at least 1mm thick. Leaf edge lippings Leaves may be finished along all edges with timber edge lippings of maximum thickness 9mm and of minimum density 650kg/m 3 with timber door frames and 900kg/m 3 with steel or Fen door frames. Intumescent leaf edge and door frame seals For all applications, a Flexiseal intumescent seal of 20mm wide by 2mm thick shall be recessed into the rear face of the lipping at the top and all vertical leaf edges, including both meeting edges of double-leaf doorset. 9 When leaves are hung in timber frames, a Flexiseal intumescent seal of 20mm wide by 2mm thick shall be fitted in the centre of the frame reveal and may be concealed with a wood veneer up to 3mm thick. As an option, at leaf/frame junctions, the 20mm wide seals concealed in the leaf edges and in the door frame may be replaced by a single 30mm wide exposed seal in either the leaf edge or the door frame. When double-leaf doorsets have square meeting edges, the 20mm wide seals in each meeting edge may be replaced by a single 30mm wide seal in the active meeting edge only. When leaves are hung in steel or Fen frames, an exposed Flexiseal intumescent seal of 30mm wide by 2mm thick shall be fitted in the centre of the leaf edges opposite the frame members.. Adjustable steel frame for single-leaf doorsets The approved steel frames include a fully grouted adjustable profile that is able to accommodate variations of wall thickness. Fen door frames Frame profiles shall have an architrave face of at least 21mm wide and provide a rebate of at least 15mm.
