1 Aesthetic value: Stainless cables with black posts and Maple railings provide a clean, linear look to complete the aesthetic of this modern luxury home. Cables minimize the railing weight and emphasize the expansive space of the home. Stair safety: System is designed to meet the most current California residential building codes with special attention to R the 4, 4-3/8 and 6 diameter sphere requirements. Quality of workmanship: The quality of the custom fabricated posts for this railing system and the attention to detail by the installers is evidenced by straight cable lines on balconies and stairs. Technical challenge: Stout posts with tight cables and close spacing are required to meet the strict interpretation of the 4 rule by rigid Inspectors and 4 spheres in hand. Entry 06

2 2018 StairCraft Awards Aesthetic value: It feels otherworldly, the hand sculpted handrail and newel post blending together as a continuous piece, with a custom profile, and unique shape. A stainless steel, free-form balustrade panel give modern, artistic flair and whimsy. Stair safety: Code compliant balustrade meets the IRC rules, offers guardrail support when ascending/descending the stair. Offers visual cues when entering stair well. Quality of workmanship: Quality, old-world artisanship, with a softness to the touch and a feeling of fluidity to the handrail, blends with the modern influence of the stainless guardrail, giving us this artistic piece of functional art. Technical challenge: Hand-sculpting a continuous handrail and newel post to the tightest of tolerances for integration with metal detail and stringer; stainless steel balustrade design also hand crafted for perfect fit and seamless detailing. Quality of workmanship: Lattice work mortise & tenoned together with top rails plowed out and filleted to receive continuous panel work.

The drama of the newel posts being mortised out to receive the lattice work creates rare elevated refinement. Stair safety: All the local codes were satisfied. Quality of workmanship: Lattice work mortise & tenoned together with top rails plowed out and filleted to receive continuous panel work. All newel locations mortised out to receive lattice panel work & filleted in between all angled members. Technical challenge: All of the decorative turned newel posts had to be meticously mortised & filleted to receive lattice work. The start of the layout to the finish point of the continuous angled lattice work was rather tricky. Entry 09

Aesthetic value: For this new Florida Keys home, we were commissioned to design, manufacture and install a one of a kind stair, railing, and balustrade, which some would say is a unique piece of art.

The variety of materials used in this stair include stone, steel, different woods and mosaic tiles to comply with FEMA regulations for construction below flood levels.

4 Aesthetic value: For this new Florida Keys home, we were commissioned to design, manufacture and install a one of a kind stair, railing, and balustrade, which some would say is a unique piece of art. Stair safety: Code compliant spacing throughout the balustrade took considerable planning. The variety of materials used in this stair include stone, steel, different woods and mosaic tiles to comply with FEMA regulations for construction below flood levels. Quality of workmanship: The hand forged leaves, vines and flowers in this balustrade are metal with a two-tone patina finish and wrap around a structural frame of satin black steel. Technical challenge: Our challenge was to ensure the stair s code compliance and safety in the metal work while maintaining a wild growing vine look to mimic the tropical surrounds of the home to bring the outside in. Technical challenge: Getting the oval to look proportional and meet the 4 sphere code. Mortising square balusters into curb wall to eliminate shoes. Entry 65
