VERY IMPORTANT: Please read the following instructions carefully before installing your Bluenote tonearm Congratulations Thank you for having purchased a BLUENOTE product. Introduction With BLUENOTE products you enter a new dimension. BLUENOTE is the new way of listening to music. BLUENOTE is a range of products of prestigious and sophisticated Italian design featuring unique and innovative technical and aesthetic characteristics. 7. The new 2007 version of the B 7 gimbal tone arm (mark II) is derived directly from the most acclaimed tone arm ever made by Bluenote: the B- Most of the virtues of the B-7 have been retained in the new B-7. The new B-7 has got the Multi-Board as well as the gold plated DIN connectors and comparable bearing quality with those used in the B-7. Sonically the new B-7 is more open and detailed than the standard version having a superior bass control, extension and finer high frequency details. The new B-7 is a medium mass Titanium gimbal tone arm.
Congratulations & Introduction 3 Contents of Packaging - TONEARM COMPLETE WITH FIXED HEADSHELL - SEPARATE GOLD PLATED BRASS/ANODIZED ALUMINIUM COUNTERWEIGHT - SEPARATE ARM REST OPEN RING, GOLD PLATED ARM LIFT LEVER & ANTI SKATE WEIGHTED WIRE - 1mt. PAIR SHIELDED CABLE WITH RCA TERMINALS FOR CONNECTION TO AMPLIFIER - 2 ALLEN KEYS FOR VARIOUS TONEARM ADJUSTMENTS - 1 PAPER PROTRACTOR - INSTRUCTIONS AND WARRANTY CERTIFICATE Construction features This section describes the specific characteristics of the B-7 Titanium tonearm, the construction features, the reasons for the technical choices and the originality of the design. - B-7 Titanium is a H7 Bearing system tonearm of low with a long straight Arm tube of an overall length of 270mm, and from the center of the Bearing Fork of 223mm. Like all the tonearms of the BLUENOTE range, the materials used in the manufacture of the B-7 Titanium are Titanium Grade2, Stainless Steel, Brass, PTE. - The Arm tube, made entirely of Titanium Grade2, is a two pieces inserted into the Bearing Fork Tower to minimize unwanted vibrations. The tone arm is pivoted to the Bearing Fork Tower using H7 miniaturized bearings. - The Shell, also made from Anticorodal aluminium, has a conical pin designed to avoid any play once inserted within the Arm tube. It is locked onto a rectified plate using air-free seal bonding agents. The rectified plate guarantees that the Shell/ Bearing Fork Tower remain at perfectly right angles. - The Bearing Fork Tower made of black anodized aluminium is perfectly symmetrical to avoid at its best the problems of mistracking and vibration. - The Bearings used on B-7 Titanium are H-7 standard precison and they are individually selected and hand assembled to guarantee their perfect functioning. - The counterweight is made of a brass alloy. It must be threaded into the bottom of the arm wand looking to find the right tracking weight. - The Shaft is made entirely of aluminium and has a diameter of 23mm. On the base there is a multipolar DIN connector to connect the stereo cable to the amplifier (Phono RCA standard connectors). - The height-adjustable arm Lift is made of brass, stainless steel and PTE. It has a hydraulic movement, that is a gradual ascent and descent. It provides a perfect and easy movements of the toneamrs to better and safely find the right positions on the records. - The Antiskating device is a wire type with a calibrated weight. The support bar is located on the same Hydraulic arm lift board. Anyway we strongly suggest not to use the Anti-Skating device with cartridges want weights above 1,7gr. at least. - The cables used in the tonearm are high quality very thin (36 AWG) OFC OCC Hyper Litz copper and silver made under custom specifications; they are shielded using a steel sock inside the arm tube to avoid RFI & EMI.
- The cartridge connector are gilded, made in a special pincer shape. The contact with the cartridge connectors is perfect and hard-wearing. - The external cable is made under custom specifications for Bluenote by Tasker and is completely shielded. Another available optional is a short cable terminating in 2 RCA connectors fixed to a board. This latter operation makes it possible to interchange any type of cable. - The Tonearm arm rest is made of PTE. It is large not to force the pivot when the tonearm rest down. The arm rest is located on the arm lift board Contents of Packaging - Construction features 4 Set-Up Instructions! This section describes how to install and connect your B-7 Titanium tone-arm 1) Once you have opened the box, you will find 1 B-7 Titanium tonearm, 1 aluminium counterweight, 1 phono cable, and 1 plastic bag containing 1 hydraulic arm lift lever, and 2 Allen wrenches. 2) Slowly, and carefully remove the B-7 Titanium tone-arm from the foam, paying extra attention not to snag the very fragile tonearm leads at the front of the tone-arm. 3) Carefully insert the tone-arm into the turntable arm board. On Bluenote tables there are three Allen screws which tighten down against the tone-arm mounting shaft. If the arm does not want to drop in, you may need to back out the three Allen screws enough to get the arm to drop into place. On non-bluenote tables you may need a special mounting arm board supplied by your table manufacturer, or contact your Bluenote dealer. Bluenote can make up an arm board for just about any table on the market, and most likely there is already one in production. 4) Gently tighten down one of the Allen screws in the side of the arm board using the small Allen wrench supplied, to temporarily hold the arm in place. Note: On the Bluenote Belvedere, or Bellagio you would use the larger Allen wrench. 5) Remove the counterweight from the foam, and carefully thread it on the rear of the tone-arm than set up the cartridge before setting the right tracking weight. 6) Carefully mount your cartridge on the tone-arm. You may keep it loose enough to easily adjust the different tracking angles, etc. 7) Remove the phono cable from the foam, and carefully, and gently install the end with the DIN up into the bottom of the tone-arm shaft. Be sure to align the pins on the bottom of the shaft with the pins in the Din connector. You may find it helpful to apply a small amount of pressure and rotate the din until you feel it find its position, then apply a little more pressure and see if it slides in. 8) Be sure your turntable is perfectly level before attempting any of the following procedures. Use a small level to level your table both left to right, and front to back! 9) Remove the hydraulic arm lift lever from the plastic bag, and thread it into the hydraulic arm lift, then put the arm lift in the down position. 10) Before Adjusting the VTA, it is important to slide the counterweight forward or backward until the arm balances nicely. Then bring the counter weight toward the front of the table just enough to offset the balance towards the front of the arm. This should be done so you don t risk the possibility of damaging the stylus by applying to much weight when you set it down on the record for VTA adjustment. 11) Adjust the VTA by loosening the Allen Screw in the arm board, and sliding the arm up or down until you have the cartridge/arm parallel to the record platter when the cartridge is sitting on the record. Once the VTA is set correctly you should then lightly tighten
down all three Allen screws to securely hold the arm in the collar. Note: Some cartridges have there own specific VTA requirements. Please check your cartridge manual for this info. 12) Adjust the cartridge in the head shell to a position where it is parallel to the grooves in the record, using a protractor supplied. 13) Set the tracking force to the recommended tracking weight by the cartridge manufacturer using a stylus pressure gauge/scale of some sort, (not included). Note: Ask your local dealer about purchasing, or renting a pressure gauge/scale if you do not have one. 14) Check to see if the hydraulic arm lift works properly. It should raise the arm enough to lift the cartridge 1/8 th 3/16 th of an inch off of the record, yet not lift it too much as to bind the arm in the back of the pivot tower. The arm rest should be positioned just slightly higher than the arm lift when the arm lift is in the up position, if it is not, the tone-arm may be forced off of the pivot tower every time you put it back into the arm rest. Adjustment of the arm rest requires loosening the small lock nut on the shaft of the arm rest, and turning it until you achieve the desired height. You may find it necessary to pull the black armrest off, in order to turn the shaft. Adjustment of the arm lift is done using the small Allen wrench, and loosening the small Allen screw in the side of the arm lift, located at the top of the vertical arm lift shaft. This will enable you to slide the armrest up and down on the arm lift shaft. BECAREFULL: Do not tight to much the allen screws fix the tonearm in its collar (Arm Board) to avaoid any deformation of the shaft would decrase performances of the unit by compressing the internal precision bearings. Set-up instructions 5 B-7 Titanium Bearing Tonearm Positioning of B-7 Titanium Tonearm The B-7 Titanium tonearm has been designed for use in Hi-Fi systems in sheltered locations. It ought therefore to be protected from any eventual variations in temperature and humidity. Avoid using in the vicinity of radiators or other strong heat sources, electrical and electronic motors, switched on mobile phones etc. The location in proximity of other audio components is not theoretically critical, but you should nevertheless pay attention to this. If the turntable should have to be moved after the tonearm has been installed, certain readjustments may need to be made. In any case, take care to lock the B-7 Titanium tonearm every time you need to move it, or to move the turntable on which it is installed. The connection to the cartridge of B-7 Titanium must be done as follows: RED: + Right Channel WHITE: + Left Channel BLACK or GREEN : - Right Channel BLUE: - Left Channel and GROUND Operating Conditions Once it has been correctly mounted on your turntable, and once the supplied cable linking the connector located on the bottom of the Shaft and the amplifier to the PHONO input set for the pre-installed cartridge has been connected, your B-7 Titanium tonearm is ready for use.
NOTE: the B-7 TITANIUM is designed to be matched with phono cartridges weigh at least 8gram up to 20gram. If you want to use lighter cartridge you must use a headshell extra weight to have a regular functioning of the unit. Do not tight to much the allen screws fix the. In all countries where there is an official distribution network, the warranty certificate must be stamped by the dealer. In compliance with the laws in force, the dealer may modify the official Bluenote warranty certificate wholly or partially without notice and without further mention being made in this instruction manual. Customer Service All BLUENOTE products are the result of meticulous technological research, and consequently their correct functioning is guaranteed. In spite of this it is possible that problems may emerge which cannot be resolved by non-specialist users. In this case, contact your dealer who will advise you on how to resolve the problem. Do not return any object directly to the factory or to the national distributor or without being authorised to do so. In such cases both BLUENOTE and the distribution agents operating within your territory decline responsibility of any kind.
