1 Alternative With the domestic kitchen market becoming more accepting of materials other than wood, Conestoga has expanded its focus to include several alternative materials to produce cabinet doors and components. Currently, medium density fiberboard (MDF) accounts for the majority of the alternative materials demand, but several other materials are gaining interest such as thermally structured surfaces (TSS), thermally fused laminates (TFL), Polyethylene, solid surface acrylics, Aluminum framed doors with glass and acrylic inserts. This newly created section of our Custom Product Manual highlights the products we make from these and other materials and provides you with the pertinent information. You can expect an even more diverse offering in the future as we add more new materials for you to choose from. Our goal is to stay in tune with these emerging alternative materials and if they gain a reasonable foothold in the market, appear to have the potential of a long life cycle and we can effectively acquire and convert them into usable components, it's highly likely we will add them to our Custom offering. As you review these materials you will notice that there is some variation in the pricing methodology of different products. Some products, such as the MDF and Polyethylene doors, use our traditional design plus material method, while other items including Aluminum framed products and solid surface high gloss acrylics use a square foot price. These different pricing methods are sometimes necessary due to our suppliers pricing structures that may not convert well into design plus material. Each of these products, whether manufactured or distributed by Conestoga, carry our one-year limited warranty and utilize the same tolerances as our wood doors in regard to sizing, bow, warp and twist, and shipping damage.
