2 TREES - THE ELIXIR OF LIFE FOR OUR CITIES Trees - The elixir of life for our cities Trees are very important for our cities. With their canopy of leaves, they regulate the micro climate, filter dust out of the air and reduce the noise caused by urban traffic. Since cities are in fact a hostile environment for trees, special protection measures are required. For many years, HYDROTEC has been doing extensive research in the field of tree protection and has developed effective systems in this regard ensuring a healthy tree growth. The ground area of the trees is protected by square and round tree grates made of cast iron that consist of several segments. They are available in 5 different sizes and in two different designs. The individual segments are placed in a galvanized steel support frame that in turn rests on a concrete foundation. Each tree grate contains a segment with a closable opening for additional irrigation measures. The tree grates made of cast iron are supplemented by a collision protector and a tree guard. The tree guard can be used in conjunction with the tree grate but also alone using pegs to fix it to the ground. Tree guards make a valuable contribution to the protection of newly planted and existing trees. They surround the trunk area and provide it with reliable protection against damages. Different types of tree protection bars are additionally available.

3 TREE GRATES / TREE PROTECTION Easy and fast assembly The support frame halves that have been preassembled with the tree grates are placed on the finished foundation and screwed together using the supplied hexagon screws M16. The foundation is drilled into through the empty hole of each tree grate segment using a 10 mm drill and the supplied M10 x 250 mm threaded anchor bolts are driven into the holes. By tightening the hexagonal nuts, the tree grate segments are screwed to the foundation. This way, the tree grate system and the concrete foundation are screwed together to form a unit.

4 TREE GRATES Construction Due to the well-engineered, compact and weight-optimised design of the HYDROTEC tree grates, a simple, fast and therefore cost-efficient assembly is ensured. Steel support frame Hot-dip galvanised, 2-part, for an undamped wheel load of up to 50 kn. Tree grates made of cast iron Tree grates with a slot width of 16 mm in radial or ray-shaped design. Surface painted with airless epoxy anti-slip special paint, min. 250 µm. Segments made of concrete Easy transport and easy assembly, available for all dimensions. Optional - with and without root passage. Irrigation opening / label With irrigation opening and place for individual labelling / logo. Screw connection Continuous screw connection with concrete anchor made of steel.

6 TREE PROTECTION Tree guard Protects the trunk and the upper root area. Easy assembly due to two cage halves that can be screwed together. The tree guard is mounted onto the cast iron tree grate using three fastening brackets (to the inside). Fixing material ensuring slope compensation is also available. Alternatively, the tree guard can also be directly fixed to the ground using ground anchors. Made of flat steal, hot dip galvanised or additionally powder-coated in common RAL and DB colours.
