Inventory When purchasing inventories, we use strict guidelines that meet or exceed National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA) grading requirements. In each facility our inventories consists of thousands of feet of quality hardwoods, allowing us to expedite orders and guarantee on grade material.

Modernday America with all its technology has yet to duplicate the warm, rich look and feel of real wood. Our customers today search for new ideas to further enhance their finished product, the use of wood mouldings is making a comeback. Mouldings add character, transforming even small homes into home of warmth and appealing detail. Hood Distribution produces custom mouldings to your specifications. We can reproduce rare moulding shapes as may be found in a Historic Preservation. With moulding knives in stock, it is very likely we have what you are looking for. If not, we can create custom mouldings from a simple hand sketch with dimensions, or from a physical sample. Specify what wood species you are looking for and the quantity you will need and we can begin by providing you with a cost estimate. After your approval, we will produce a pattern that precisely fits your needs. All mouldings are sold in random lengths usually ranging from 8 to 16 feet long. Nevertheless, we always try to obtain the longest lengths possible when necessary. Specified lengths are available for an additional charge. Hood Distribution provides S4S flat stock in any thickness and width you need. In some cases, the wood species may be limited in availability. We can provide you with all four sides dressed up to 12 wide and wider if necessary. All rough lumber used in manufacturing has been inspected and evaluated by an NHLA certified Lumber Grader.

30 Limited Moulding Warranty Hood Distribution warrants that its wood mouldings will be free from manufacturing defects which would render them unserviceable or unfit for their normal, recommended use. Natural variations in the color or texture of the wood are not to be considered as defects. Hood Distribution shall have no liability under this warranty or under any implied warranties unless such mouldings have been handled, stored, finished, installed and maintained as noted below. Furthermore, Hood Distribution shall have no liability under this warranty or under any implied warranty for the finish of such mouldings. Proper Storage of Mouldings Do not store mouldings in damp areas or freshly-plastered buildings. Store mouldings on a flat, level surface in a dry, well-ventilated building. Cover to keep clean, but allow circula tion. Relative humidity should not be less than 30% nor greater than 60%. Moulding should not be subjected to abnormal heat, extreme dryness, humid conditions, or sudden changes therein. They should be conditioned to the average prevailing humidity of the locality before installing. Proper Finishing Procedures All wood products require proper surface preparation prior to the application of any finish. Hood Distribution Inc. mouldings are no exception. To get a consistent stain color and fin ish, always sand all mouldings with grit sandpaper. Never use 180 or 220 grit on raw wood; it can result in polishing, burnishing, or inconsistent stain appearance. Always seal concealed or backing of moulding to eliminate the possibility of expansion caused by moisture absorption. To ensure uniform color when applying dark stain, it is highly recommended that a wash coat be applied, followed by a light sanding. It is also good practice to apply stains with the mouldings in a horizontal position. This prevents the solvents from evaporating too quickly, which is a common cause of streaks caused by stains setting up before cleaning can be completed.
