2 - SANAS Accreditation - HBS has the largest and now the only SANAS accredited test rig in South Africa HBS Aluminium Systems Test Center is now an ISO accredited laboratory for testing its products in line with SANS 13: 2011 (excl. par. 5.7). According to SANAS the HBS test rig is the only test rig in South Africa that has this recognition. The HBS test rig is the largest of its kind, accommodating test samples from 1200mm high to 110mm high by 3000mm wide. Some of the test rig capabilities include: Testing pressures from A1 to A Water resistance from 200Pa to 700Pa Deflection (positive and negative) from -3500Pa to 3500Pa Structural proof loading from 1500Pa to 5250Pa Our personnel have been declared competent and approved as Technical Signatories by SANAS. This means a test certificate issued by HBS is legally acceptable and does not need the signature of a professional engineer which saves HBS customers money. Regular calibration of equipment is key to maintaining SANAS accreditation. HBS equipment is calibrated with ILAC traceability thus ensuring accurate results every time. By achieving SANAS ISO17025 accreditation our laboratory now has national and international recognition of competence and test reports. No other test rig in South Africa can make this claim. We offer branded aluminium system that architects and fabricators can trust because they have been tested to destruction on the only SANAS accredited test rig in South Africa.

8 - Architectural Specification - GENERAL ing door products are for domestic and light commercial environments where large, effective openings are required with opening ratios of up to 90%. Typical applications include : Pool decks, Terrasses, Shops, Caffees and Show Rooms etc. CONSTRUCTION Vista-fold can be built with panels based on Shop Front, Window Wall or Explorer. - Shop Front (single Glazing,38 to 12,7mm) - Window Wall (single & double glazing,38 to 28mm) - Explorer (single & double glazing,38 to 28mm) - Products with to 10 panels are possible. Max. panel width 900mm, 70kg. Overall height up to 2700mm can be built with -12- double glazing. Products in excess of 2700mm should be single glazed. Door Stiles (verticals) come in 45mm,5mm,85mm & 90mm width. Mid-rail should be used for panels in excess of 2200mm. The 75mm wall frame allows for Outside or Inside opening door operation and the bottom track can be drained to either side. E-track Vista fold for internal use is also possible. Side lights or Top lights can used in conjunction with. HARDWARE Latch lock handles are used where double doors meet or where a door locks against the frame side. Hook Bolt Latch Locks are recommended for increased security. Double throw surface mounted Flush Bolts are used to lock intermediary panels to the Frame Top and Frame Bottom. Rubber bubble gasket seal between panels and against the frame side. Top and Bottom frame are fitted with Finpile to allow Panels to move freely without friction. PERFORMANCE SANS13:2011 A1 weather performance can be achieved for products using the sill profile, outside opening. Products with inside opening panels or mounted on E-track are not rated in terms of SANS13:

35 - Powder coating - Quality & inspection Inspection of sections as per SANS 179 Section For inspection of already installed powder-coated sections, a viewing distance of 3 metres is recommended. - Products that have not been installed should be viewed under diffused light at an oblique angle of 0 from a distance of 1 metre. The following surface imperfections are allowed. (Table 1 Section in SANS 179:2010 Edition 3) 2 - Significant surface - That area of the coated article on with the coating is essential for serviceability or appearance. 3 - Critical surface - That area of the coated article to which flush glazing may be applied as specified by the purchaser. Some variation in appearance and colour can be expected after anodizing, between different batches of the same material and between different forms of the same material. These need not in any way affect the quality of the coating. All I-values, strength and loading charts provided herein are for information only and it is expected that the fabricator will ensure that his engineer has checked and confirmed that the details and strengths recommendations comply with his particular contracts requirements. Care and Maintenance Aluminium is an excellent material, nonetheless certain precautions should be taken to ensure maximum longevity. HBS products should be periodically maintained and their use should be in accordance with specified aims. Profiles Recommendations should be followed. When the environment contains no aggressive elements, as is generally the case in rural or low density urban areas, cleaning should generally be carried out annually, but with frequency variations according to environmental conditions. Regularly maintained surfaces can be sponge-washed using water and neutral detergent. This may be carried out at the same time as window cleaning. Do not use abrasive products. Glass Cleaning should be carried out using water only or with neutral detergents. Avoid the use of tools likely to scratch the glass. During maintenance, care should be taken to avoid damage leading to tearing of weathering barriers. Some special glazing requires specific maintenance which should be specified by the glass supplier. Drainage The various rebates, gutters, and rails should be kept clean and free from obstructions to ensure proper movement of leaves and drainage of water ingress. Drainage, guttering and pressure balancing openings should also be kept clean and free from obstruction. Hardware Moving parts should be checked, adjusted, and lubricated at least once a year. Particular attention should be paid to screw tightening. In the case of intensive use, maintenance should be suitably scheduled to ensure joinery remains in good condition and meets safety standards. All non-plastic mechanisms should be lubricated with oil or resin- and acid-free grease. Any damaged parts should be replaced. All lock mechanisms and moving parts should be lubricated. Do not lubricate hinges. Powder Coating Powder coating is preferred to anodising for the following reasons: Anodising exposes the most discrete die lines, powder coating tends to minimise the impact of die lines Anodising colour variations are common; with powder coating colour variations are uncommon Anodising has directionality which means that transoms and mullions may appear to have a different colour, this does not happen with powder coating Anodising is difficult if not impossible to clean especially if covered with mortar; powder coating is more forgiving and easier to clean. 34
