2 SAFE HANDLING OF THE GLASS BACKBOARD BEFORE & DURING ASSEMBLY GENERAL HANDLING & CARE HANDLING BROKEN GLASS At the first sign of breakage: REMOVING BACKBOARD FROM SYSTEM See Section 7 of this manual for instructions on how to safely remove the backboard from the system. *Six adults required to complete assembly* Only adults should set up the product. Do not allow children in the setup area until assembly is complete. 3

Note: Make sure the curved ends of the J-Bolts are in a rectangular pattern as shown. 13

13 (Not to scale) TOOLS AND HARDWARE REQUIRED FOR THIS PAGE 1 NO HARDWARE REQUIRED FOR THIS PAGE 1.3 Please note that a thicker mix of concrete will dry stronger. 36 Rebar (AEZ) 1.4 J-Bolt Template (AKT) The front of the Template is the side with the Nut Coupler (CYV) and should be toward the playing surface. J-Bolts (AEI) to allow water runoff. The lower four 5/8 Hex Nuts (AER) and the Nut Coupler will be in the concrete permanently. AKT AER CYV AEZ 18 Playing surface AEI Note: You are now finished with the initial assembly steps. DO NOT PROCEED WITH THE ASSEMBLY until the concrete has fully cured. Curing will take a minimum of 72 hours (3 days). In humid climates or wet weather, allow additional time for the concrete to cure. Never use the system without first following the cementing instructions. 14

The Handle Brackets must move freely around the Bolt. You should be able to rotate the Spacers with your fingers. 17

AEG CYD CYF 2.4 Note: DO NOT overtighten the hardware. Gas Springs (AJR) Gas Spring Cover (AKG) Repeat this step for the remaining Gas Spring and Gas Spring Cover. AKG 1 AJR 2 Note: The Gas Spring Cover will rest loosely on the Gas Spring. It will be secured to the Gas Spring later in the assembly. Note: To simplify the upcoming steps, it may be helpful to fully extend the Gas Springs. To do so, carefully tap the small release pin at the larger end of the Gas Spring with a Bolt. Continue tapping repeatedly until the Gas Spring is fully extended. 19

DO NOT USE the Dark Lithium Grease, as this may damage the Gas Springs. ALS ALS AEH AEH CYQ DDX CYG CYC CYC DFY AKI AKX Note: If there is difficulty completing this step, loosen the hardware on the Handle Assembly. After completing this step, retighten the hardware. 41 7 REMOVING THE BACKBOARD DISASSEMBLE THE SYSTEM In the event the Backboard should need replacing, please follow the instructions below. Never remove the Backboard from the system without first dissasembling the system as instructed. At least six adults are required to complete the following steps: 7.1 5/8 Nylon Caps (AMS) AMS 7.2 5/8 Flat Washers (BIP) and 5/8 Nylock Nuts (ADL) ADL BIP 7.3 Note: Place cardboard or other cushioning material between the backboard and the ground WARNING

42 OPERATION OF HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT SYSTEM Pad Lock (ALC) Handle Lock Bracket (AKX) Trigger Pin (AMO) Hole in Handle Lock Bracket Note: If there is difficulty adjusting the system height, loosen the four Bolts on the Handle Assembly. DO NOT overtighten the hardware. The Handle must be able to rotate on the pole. You should be able to rotate the Spacers with your fingers. POLE CARE AND SYSTEM MAINTENANCE IF RUST HAS PENETRATED THROUGH THE POLE ANYWHERE, REPLACE IT IMMEDIATELY 43
