1 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Medium Flat Panel Model MSP-SI1 IMPORTANT! : The MSP-S11 Mount is designed for use with Sharp 45" LCD displays that have a 200mm x 200mm mounting pattern. IMPORTANT! : The mount has a maximum weight capacity of 75lbs (34kg), and an outward maximum extension of 7.25"(184.15mm). BEFORE YOU BEGIN WARNING: Thoroughly read and understand all Warnings and precautions (see page 2), instructions and illustrations before you begin mount installation. Failure to install the mount properly could lead to serious personal injury, damage to equipment, and may void the factory warranty. WARNING: Mount faceplate moves freely from retracted to extended position. Keep hands and fingers away from pinch points while unpacking, handling and installing the mount. CAUTION: A CAUTION alerts you to the possibility of damage or destruction of equipment if you do not follow the corresponding instructions. WARNING: Improper installation can result in serious personal injury! Make sure that structure can support a weight factor five times the total weight of the equipment. If not, reinforce the structure before installing mount. WARNING: Mount faceplate moves freely from retracted to extended position. Keep hands and fingers away from pinch points while unpacking, handling and installing the mount. WARNING: The weight of the display placed on the mount must not exceed 75 lbs. (34 kg), the maximum load capacity of the mount. CAUTION: Check the unit for shipping damage before you begin the installation. NOTE: Use only the mounting screws provided and DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN. INSPECT MOUNT BEFORE ASSEMBLY Carefully inspect mount assembly for shipping damage (see Figure 1). If damage is apparent, call your carrier claims agent and do not continue with installation until the carrier has reviewed the damage. NOTE: Thouroughly read and understand all assembly instructions before starting installation. 4 Model MSP-SI1 Installation Instructions MOUNT ASSEMBLY The only assembly required on the SI1 is attaching a cable management clip to each side of the mount face plate. To attach the cable management clip: 1. Pull mount face plate outward until access to rear of face plate can be achieved. 2. Install two cable management clips (70) into each side of mount faceplate. (see figure 2) Face Plate 4. Place mount assembly (10) against wall and align mounting holes in mount assembly (10) with pilot holes (see figure 4). 5. Mount Installation With Holding Plates To install mount using Holding Plates: 1. Identify appropriate mounting location. 2. Place mount assembly (10) against wall and mark pilot hole locations (see figure 3). WARNING: Keep hands and fingers away from pinch points as mount may move from retracted to extended position when being positioned on wall. 3. 5 Installation Instructions Mount Installation into Dual Wood Studs WARNING: The installer is responsible for verifying that the structure to which the mount is anchored will safely support five times the combined load of the mount and all attached components. To install mount using dual wood studs on 16" center: 1. Identify appropriate mounting location and wood studs. 2. Place mount assembly (10) against wall, level mount and mark pilot hole locations (see figure 5). Model MSP-SI1 3. Secure interface bracket (80) to display using four M6 x 20mm button head cap screws (110). NOTE: If mounting surface is recessed use four M6 x 25mm Phillips Machine screws (90) with spacer (120) or four M6 x 40mm Phillips Machine screws (100) with spacer (130). 4. Tighten all screws. Display Back WARNING: Keep hands and fingers away from pinch points as mount may move from retracted to extended position when being positioned on wall. Spacer (120 or 130) 3. Drill four 1/8" pilot holes, at marked locations (see figure 5). 4. Secure mount to wall studs using four flat washers (40) and four lag screws (160). Move mount (10) faceplate to extended position by grasping faceplate and pulling outward, away from wall. WARNING: Keep hands and fingers away from all pinch points when moving the mount from retracted to extended position. (160) (10) (40) (4 places) (4 places) Figure 5: Install Mount on Dual Wall Studs INSTALL DISPLAY To install the display: 1. Lay display face down on a clean dry surface. 2. Align holes in interface bracket (80) with mounting holes in display back. 6. Align mounting buttons on display with teardrop mounting holes in mount faceplate (see figure 7). 7. Move display forward until all four mounting buttons (40) are through teardrop mounting holes in faceplate, and recessed area of mounting buttons (40) is aligned with the lower area of teardrop mounting holes in faceplate. 8. Lower display until the recessed area of all four mounting buttons is seated in the lower area of teardrop mounting holes in faceplate (see figure 8) 9. Move two latch flags to their UP position to secure display to mount assembly. 5

6 Model MSP-SI1 Installation Instructions Mounting Button FELT PAD INSTALLATION Felt pads (60) are provided to protect the display from contact with the mount. To install protective felt pads: 1. Move display to fully extended position. WARNING: Keep hands and fingers away from all pinch points when moving the mounted display from the retracted to the extended position. Slowly rotate display to "fully right" position and identify the area of contact between the display and cabinet. 3. Remove adhesive back from felt pad (60) and place pad onto display at identified point of contact. 4. Slowly rotate display to "fully left" position and identify the area of contact between the display and cabinet. 5. Remove adhesive back from felt pad (60) and place pad onto display at identified point of contact. ADJUSTMENTS The mount is shipped with pre-set tension for swing arm movement. After extended use mount tension may need to be adjusted. There are a total of 12 tension adjustment points on the mount (see figure 9). Six on mount top, and six on mount bottom. Points 1 through 6 control mount extension and retraction tension. Points 1 and 6 control mount right left swing tension, and points 3 and 4 control display left right rotation tension. NOTE: It is important that correspnding points are adjusted equally. Example: 1 and 6, 2 and 5, 3 and 4, and their corresponding adjustment points on mount bottom (see figure 9). To adjust mount tension: 1. Determine which aspect of mount movement needs to be adjusted and located appropriate adjustment screws. 2. Using the hex wrench provided, tighten or loosen adjustment screws until desired tension is achieved (see figure 9). CABLE MANAGEMENT Cable management clips, for use with "zip-ties" or similar devices, are provided for routing and securing cables running to the mounted display. To use cable management clips: 1. Zip tie cable to cable clip (70). (see figure 10) 2. Route cables down and under mount to display. 6
