5 Safety Instructions BoxMaster Safety Information an nd General Exercise Guidelines Safety Information Read the BoxMaster Owner's Manual carefully before assembling, servicing or using this product.! WARNING: Serious injury or death could occur if these safety precautions are not observed: 1. DO NOT use the BoxMaster in any way other than designed or intended by the manufacturer. It is imperative that the BoxMaster is used properly to avoid injury. 2. Use the machine ONLY for the intendedd use. Obtain instruction and DO NOT modify the machines. 3. Keep hands, feet, head, limbs, fingers and hair clear at all times from moving parts to avoid injury. Use appropriate positioning, speed and controlled movements. 4. DO NOT use any equipment that is damaged and or has worn or broken parts. Use only replacement parts supplied by BoxMaster dealers and distributors. 5. Before each use inspect to make sure the base is secure and that all pads, hardware, fasteners and adjustments are tight and the unit is in complete working order. 6. DO NOT attempt to fix a broken or jammed machine. Contact appropriate staff and contact BoxMaster approved dealers and distributors for service and service parts. 7. DO NOT wear loose or dangling clothing while using the BoxMaster. Keep away from all moving parts. 8. YOU MUST always wear recommendedd protective wrist wraps and hitting gloves when using this product, failure to do so may result in serious injury. 9. Children MUST NOT be allowed near these machines. Teenagers must be supervised. 10. Obtain a medical exam prior to beginning an exercise program. 11. If at any time during exercise you feel faint, dizzy or experience pain, stop and consult your physician. i 12. It is the purchaser's sole responsibility to properly instruct its end users and supervising personnel as to the proper operating procedures of the BoxMaster equipment. It is recommended that the end users physical condition be evaluated prior to beginning any exercise program. 13. MAINTAIN LABELS AND NAMEPLATE S: Do not remove labels for any reason. They contain important information. If unreadable or missing, contact BoxMaster approved dealers and distributors for a replacement. Page 5

6 14. SECURING EQUIPMENT: BoxMaster equipment MUST be secured to the floor to stabilize and eliminate rocking or tipping over. This must be performed by a licensed contractor. 15. Make sure that each machine is set up and operated on a solid level surface. DO NOT install equipment on an uneven surface. 16. MAINTAIN ALL EQUIPMENT: Preventative maintenance is the key to smooth operating equipment as well as keeping your liability to a minimum. Inspect the BoxMaster equipment prior to use. DO NOT use if damaged or inoperable. 17. Ensure that any person (s) making adju ustments or performing maintenance or repair of any kind is qualified to do so. 18. Perform regular maintenance checks on the BoxMaster equipment. Also, pay close attention to all areas most susceptible to wear. 19. Keep a repair log of all maintenance activities. 20. Immediately replace worn or damaged components. If unable to immediately replace worn or damaged components then remove the BoxMaster piece of equipment from service until the repair is made. 21. Make sure there is enough room for safe access and operation of the BoxMaster equipment. 22. Use only BoxMaster approved dealers and distributors supplied components to maintain/repair i i the BoxMaster equipme ent. 23. UNDERSTANDING EACH AND EVERY WARNING TO THE FULLEST IS IMPORTANT. IF ANY OF THESE WARNINGS ARE UNCLEAR, ASK FOR CLARIFICATION FROM STAR TRAC PERSONNEL. 7 Installation Instructions GENERAL NOTES: Unless otherwise noted Loctite 242/243 or equivalent thread locker must be used on all threaded fasteners. (Do not use thread locker when a Nyloc nut is used.) All BoxMaster equipment MUST be secured to the floor using either 10mm or 3/8in. (grade 5 minimum) bolts. BoxMaster equipment can be secured to the floor using MAXIMUM of either 20mm or 3/4in. (grade 5 minimum) bolts. This Installation Instructions Manual must be used in conjunction with the equipment s Owner s Manual. The Owner s manual ldescribes equipment setup and dinstructs t membe rs on how to use it correctly and safely. BOXMASTER requires at least two people to perform the installation. THREAD LOCKER APPLICATION: Clean all thread ds and holes, apply no more than 3-4 drops per bolt. Thru Holes Blind Holes Bolt Size 6mm 8mm 10mm 12mm Metric Steel Bolts Torque Specifications Thread Pitch Torque, N-m (lbs-ft) 10 to13.5 (8 to10) 25.5 to 28.5 (19 to 21) 55.5 to 58 (41 to 43) 61 to 65 (45 to 48) Torque all hardware to values as specified above, unless noted otherwise. See hardware sheet of this manual for fastener sizing information; for reference only. Note: All torque values are in N-m unless otherwise stated. PACKAGING REMOVAL: Carefully remove all packaging materials that wrap the equip pment. DO NOT USE A KNIFE OR BOX CUTTER AS YOU MAY DAMAGE THE EQUIPMENT. At th is time remove any sub-components from the pallet and set aside for later assembly. Should any component not be present or if you have any operational questions, please refer to your owner s manual or on the Page 7

8 STEP #1 - UNPACK AND ASSEMBLE #1 PAD & #2 PAD ASSY: 1. Remove and unwrap all product from shipping boxes. Lay all parts out in a clean open area to prepare for assembly. 2. Locate #1 PAD and UPPER-PAD SPRING ARM as below. Loosely Install three (1/4-20*3/4, SOCKET HEAD BOLTS), and three (M6, FLAT WASHERS) do not tighten at this time. 3. Locate #2 PAD and UPPER-PAD SPRING ARM as below. Loosely Install three (1/4-20*3/4, SOCKET HEAD BOLTS), and three (M6, FLAT WASHERS) do not tighten at this time. 4. Tighten all bolts. 9 STEP #2 - ASSEMBLE #3 PAD ASSY: 1. As shown locate #3 PAD and UPPER RIGHT SPRING ARM. Loosely Install three (1/4-20*3/4, SOCKET HEAD BOLTS), and three (M6, FLAT WASHERS). 2. Tighten the three bolts. SOCKET HEAD BOLT FLAT WASHER #3 PAD UPPER RIGHT SPRING ARM Page 9

10 STEP #3 - ASSEMBLE #4 PAD ASSY: 1. Slide #4 PAD into UPPER RIGHT SPRING ARM. Loosely Install three (1/4-20*3/4, SOCKET HEAD BOLT), and three (M6, FLAT WASHER). 2. Tighten the three bolts. UPPER LEFT SPRING ARM SOCKET HEAD BOLT FLAT WASHER #4 PAD Page 10

11 STEP #4 ASSEMBLE MIDDLE POSITION PAD ASSY: 1. Locate MIDDLE SPRING ARM and MIDDLE POSITION PAD as below, loosely install twelve (M8, FLAT WASHERS) and twelve (M8x25MM, SOCKET HEAD BOLTS), at the same time, make sure the LOWEST MIDDLE CENTER SOCKET HEAD BOLT throught the EYELET. 2. Tighten all the bolts. 3. Assemble the MIDDLE COVER PAD by adhering to the MIDDLE POSITION PAD. MIDDLE COVER PAD SOCKET HEAD BOLT MIDDLE SPRING ARM EYELET FLAT WASHER LOWEST MIDDLE CENTER SOCKET HEAD BOLT MIDDLE POSITION PAD Page 11

12 BOXMASTER How to fit middle position pad with middle cover pad. STEP 1 Take middle cover pad and roll tightly and secure with tape for 5 minutes. This will assist correct contour when fixing cover pad to middle position pad. STEP 2 A) Untape middle cover pad and loosely place on top of middle position pad so velcro surfaces lightly touch. B) Lay securing string eyelet inside middle position pad frame. page 12

13 STEP3 Now that securing string eyelet is inside frame turn the frame over and firmly adhere the two surfaces together. (Important note: Try to keep the outside rim of middle cover pad back 1-2cm from the edge of the middle position pad to avoid being lifted whilst punching). INCORRECT CORRECT Once the pad is fitted lay the middle position pad on it s back elevate the spring 15cm to access inner alan key head bolt. STEP 4 Remove the center socket head bolt and washer, place securing string eyelet over hole and proceed to tighten bolt onto string eyelet. Note: this will assist in stopping the middle pad cover from lifting whilst being punched. EYELET STRING AROUND&UNDER WASHER SECURE SOCKET HEAD BOLT page 13

14 STEP #5 ASSEMBLE #10 PAD ASSY: 1. Locate LOWER LEFT SPRING ARM and #10 PAD as below, loosely install three (M6, FLAT WASHERS) and three (1/4-20*3/4, SOCKET HEAD BOLTS). 2. Tighten the three bolts. LOWER LEFT SPRING ARM SOCKET HEAD BOLT FLAT WASHER #10 PAD Page 14

15 STEP #6 ASSEMBLE #11 PAD ASSY: 1. Locate LOWER LEFT SPRING ARM and #11 PAD as below, loosely install three (M6, FLAT WASHERS) and three (1/4-20*3/4, SOCKET HEAD BOLTS). 2. Tighten the three bolts. SOCKET HEAD BOLT FLAT WASHER #11 PAD LOWER RIGHT SPRING ARM Page 15

16 STEP #7 INSTALL LOWER CUBIC TUBE ASSY: 1. Install the GAS SPRING into the UPPER ADJUSTMENT FRAME. 2. Slide the UPPER ADJUSTMENT FRAME into the LOWER MAIN FRAME, and then assemble with PULL PIN ASSY. 3. Locate three ADJUSTMENT SET HANDLEBAR and tighten them into the UPPER ADJUSTMENT FRAME as shown.. 17 STEP #8 ASSEMBLE ALL ASSYS: 1. Install #1 PAD & #2 PAD ASSY, #3 PAD ASSY, #4 PAD ASSY, MIDDLE POSITION PAD ASSY, #10 PAD ASSY and #11 PAD ASSY using twenty-four (M10 x 25MM, SOCKET HEAD BOLTS), twenty-four (M10, SPRING WASHERS) and twenty-four (M10, FLAT WASHERS). 2. Install #12 PAD ASSY using six (1/4-20*1, SOCKET HEAD BOLTS) and six (M6, FLAT WASHERS). 3. Tighten all bolts. 24 Exercise Guidelines WARNING! Before using this product, it is essential to read the ENTIRE operations manual and ALL installation Instructions. The Owner s manual describes equipment setup and instructs members on how to use it correctly and safely. Health related injuries may result from incorrect or excessive use of exercise equipment. BoxMaster dealers and distributors strongly recommend you to encourage your members to discuss their health program or fitness regimen with a health care professional, especially if you or they have not exercised for several years, are over 35, or have known health conditions. Like most exercise, BoxMaster involves an element of risk. Utilize this information to assist you and/or your members in making the experience on the BoxMaster equipment both productive and safe. Prior to engaging in any exercise program, individuals with known health conditions and/or individuals whom are unfamiliar with the risk (s) involved with weight training, should first consult with a physician. All training i sessions should be supervised by trained personnel. You must always wear recommended protective wrist wraps and hitting gloves when using this product, failure to do so may result in serious injury. Be certain that the warning stickers affixed on the BoxMaster equipment, remain on the product and unaltered. Also, be certain that all the stickers (safety, instructional and/or other) are read and understood d by each user. All users should be instructed on the proper use of the BoxMaster equipment as well as those actions that should be avoided. Do not lean against framework, pads or any component whether it is dynamic or static. Stay clear of any components while in a dynamic state of motion. Keep hands and feet away from all moving parts. The convergence of these components can cause serious injury. Do not hold onto springs, spring arms or any other component while BoxMaster is in use. Exercising on the BoxMaster should be performed with the assistance of a certified BoxMaster Trainer. Page 24

25 Maintenance and service BoxMaster requires very little upkeep to keep your equipment performing at its best, the following guidelines are suggested. General Cleaning and preventative maintenance Dry BoxMaster with a soft cloth to prevent rust after each use. Wipe BoxMaster with a light all-purpose cleaner, such as diluted Simple Green at a 30:1 solution daily. Check all hardware weekly to insure secure fittings Page 25

26 Warning Labels and Stickers The following pages show example of the warning labels l and communication stickers placed on the BoxMaster equipment as part of the manufacturing process. It is critical that owners maintain the integrity and placement of these stickers. If you find any stickers missing or damaged each sample indicated includes its corresponding part number so that replacements may be ordered. 28 Warranty Coverage The BoxMaster (Product.) is warranted to be free of all defects in material and workmanship. BoxMaster warrants all structural frameworks for a period of 5 years. This limited warranty on structural frame does not include coatings. The following moving parts are warranted for 5 years; Spring arm assemblies, main arm mounting tube. All unlisted parts, handles and accessories are warranted for 1 year. Upholstery is warranted for 6 months. Who is covered The original purchaser. Who pays for transportation and insurance for service If the Product or any covered part must be returned to a service facility for repairs, We, Star Trac, will pay all transportation and insurance charges for the first year. You are responsible for transportation and insurance charges during the second and third years (if applicable). What BoxMaster approved dealers and distributors will do to correct covered defects We will ship to you any new or rebuilt replacement part or component, or, at our option, replace the Product. Such replacement parts are warranted for the remaining portion of the original warranty period. What is not covered Any failures or damage caused by unauthorized service, misuse, accident, negligence, improper assembly or installation, debris resulting from any construction activities in the Product s environment, rust or corrosion as a result of the Product s location, alterations or modifications without our written authorization or by failure on your part to use, operate and maintain the Product as set out in your Operation Manual (.Manual.). All terms of this warranty are void if this product is moved beyond the continental borders of the United States of America (excluding Alaska, Hawaii and Canada) and are then subject to the terms provided by that country s local authorized BoxMaster approved dealer and distributor. Remember to perform the periodic maintenance requirements specified in the Manual to assure proper p operation and your continued satisfaction.
