Update on Network Games ALL TEAMS: Action Item #59 The v-i-p-site.com website was down at the start of class. Dr. Zalewski decided to postpone demos of the Games for an hour due to errors on the site will operate correctly. Apparently Rick was working on it at that time. Dr. Zalewski will the students over the weekend with information on creating the testing documents and procedures. Action Item #83 Peril Game Peril game is now working correctly with the v-i-p-site.com api. The Peril team needs to still implement saving and cookies. They will save the game state on the satnet server so the user can play it later. It will make a game with just two cards. Hangman Game Still trying to figure out why the game is not working in some of the web browsers. It is now working in Internet Explorer. Some errors still exists where some variables are not being passed between pages correctly.
3 Dynamic Multiple Choice DMC team was explaining some of the addition features they want to implement which include: setting the length of time, the number of questions, multiple card sets, other people s card sets. They showed that all their buttons were working. Quizzes! Quizzes have an integrated API issue that they need to fix. When an empty set is used, PHP errors are showing up and there are no buttons to return to the game. Style tweaks still need to be completed. Showed that the error appearing when an answer is not selected has been corrected. Kyle hopes he gets higher grade than what was displayed on the site in this class (It was 30%). Jigsaw They have disabled the puzzle until all questions are answered. Then they have 10 minutes to complete the puzzle. They are still trying to figure out how to send a signal from Flash to the server for game completion. They also want to implement some more style changes for the game. Crossword Juan explained that they were not able to test anything since the website was down when he was working on it. Dr. Zalewski was insisting that it was indeed working that previous day. The team had not implemented anything new because of these errors. 4. Update on Robotics Programs Dr. Zalewski returned the previous reports of the Robot Projects. He wants to meet with each team individually to discuss the progress. Dr. Zalewski informed the class that the robots must be working completely before the end of the semester as we will be demonstrating them to teachers at the end. After the updates on the robots, Dr. Zalewski wanted to meet with each team individually after the teams discussed the reports he gave back. Each team is to make updates on their report per Dr. Zalewski s comments by Wednesday, April 4 at midnight. Action Item #84 Lego Team Mike Humphries reported on his Lego Robot using C. With no GUI to program the robot, manual controls were used. He demonstrated that sounds would start the robot s movement. Next week he will demonstrate colors working. Evan has some progress, but manual control over blue
4 tooth has not been completely implemented. It connects but the PC says there is no such device. He has a program running with a touch sensor but has not installed the touch sensor yet. IntelliBrain Juan displayed progress he has made on his robot. He places black tape on the floor which the robot was able to successfully navigate. One of Juan s sensors is no longer working. He needs to request a new sensor from Dr. Zalewski. Matt Schehl demonstrated his robot. It would travel until there is a certain gap under it. It was not correctly working in class. He came up with an idea to use similar to the Roomba robots. ebox Team The ebox team explained that after the software was running for a number of days, they were able to update the software but later in the day it was not updating correctly. Adrian explained that they were able to connect virtually to a network outside of school and able to update the software running at the ebox running consistently for a number of days at home. CoroRobot In the process to compile all the source code on Linux. They want to purchase a crossover Ethernet cable to connect directly to a laptop to see if it would work correctly if not on school network. BBN Santiago discussed the website link that Dr. Zalewski sent them. Discussed a contest in which they would analyze the Solar Plant data. Santiago was able to upload the data to the website to analyze after creating a website to store the data that does not require a user name and password. Dr. Zalewski believes it will not be possible to get the data from the Solar Plant without the password but may have some old data from previous runs of the Solar Plant. Joe discussed some additions to the software on the website. The software, which is in beta test, will analyze the data and give suggestions on how to increase efficiency of the solar panels. 5. Any other business Everything Dr. Zalewski wanted to discuss was completed except for the testing documents. He will send an about the testing over the weekend and will want a test plan descriptions for the next class. Class adjourned at 12:10pm with the addition of Dr. Zalewski wishing to meet with the CoroRobot team. Action Item #85
