2 Australian Stamp Variations Details of the main variations in recent stamp issues Movie Stars The Australian Legends stamps were the first issue of They depicted four movie stars: Cate Blanchett, Geoffrey Rush, Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe. Each actor was featured in two designs a portrait and a scene from a film. The latter had the name and year of the film across the bottom of the stamp. The 8 sheet stamps were in se-tenant block of 4 format one sheet of portrait stamps and another sheet of movie still stamps. The two panes were joined by a gutter containing an octagonal design with 8 colours of the rainbow. Four prestige booklets were issued one for each actor. They contained 4 minisheets at the back with special block variations of 4 gummed stamps. The last minisheet (Page 27) of each booklet was the same and it contained a se-tenant block of 4 portrait stamps. 8 self-adhesive variations were issued in 5 booklets one for each actor and a mixed booklet. A special feature of this issue was the text in the 22 - Stamp News

3 David Mallen selvedge of the sheet of movie still stamps. The text related to the 4 movies from which the stills had been taken and was down the left and right sides of the sheet. Only the Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett stamps were down the left and right sides. I have listed these 16 variations in the Tabs section of the summary table. A special feature of this issue was the sheetlet of 10 self-adhesive stamps. It contained 5 shiny foiled Heart-flowers stamps and 5 flocked Filigree stamps. This is the first time I have seen a flocked stamp. The Rose stamp missed out on any surface treatment. It could have been perfumed and included on the special sheetlet, don t you think? The 3 semi-imperforate self-adhesive stamps with integrated tabs (P-stamps) were issued on 15 th February. issued as a plain variation in separate booklets. These inventions dated from 1928 (Speedos) to 1965 (Wine cask). The perf 14.6 x 13.9 gummed stamps were issued in a se-tenant strip of 5 in the sheet and in minisheets containing blocks of 4 of the same stamp in the prestige booklet. The perf 13.9 x 13.9 gummed stamps were only available in the separate Aussie backyard minisheet. The self-adhesive stamps were issued in a booklet and a roll of 200.
