2 BRIEF HISTORY 2014 is the 50 th anniversary of their issue on 19 th February, This was the last issue of First definitive issue to be printed in photogravure by Harrison & Sons All stamps were designed by Victor Whiteley On 17 th January, 1966, an issue with these stamps were released overprinted Independence/ 11 th November, 1965 According to the Mash Guide, the 10/- was officially withdrawn on 17 th November, 1965, only to re-appear overprinted. The issue was withdrawn from sale on 8 th February 1966, the day before similarly designed stamps were released, but this time inscribed Rhodesia The stamps were invalidated on 1 st July, 1969

3 Stanley Gibbons Monthly March 1964 An Issue is Born Extract The whole project of the 14 design set has taken little more than six months to carry out from designing and artwork to printing, and finally shipping the stamps to Rhodesia The stamps were printed by Harrison & Sons with their customary precision. They are excellent

44 PAPER VARIETIES With the 1d stamp, control sheet No 486 was found to be slightly whiter and more fluorescent. No reference to this is found in any publication.
