As the visiting lodge, Reed will present the second section of the Master Mason degree and then call the lodge from refreshment back to labor and then close the lodge on the Entered Apprentice degree. Let s be prepared and have fun. Fraternally, August A. L The Worshipful Alfred Cloum Master of the Lodge Dennis A. Schraeder, Sr. WM Dennis A. 2 A Report from the Temple Board Representative The Saga continues Lessing Lodge has proposed buying the Temple for $1. Furthermore, if allowed to purchase the temple, Lessing proposed to rent out space to any current tenants at favorable rates. The Grand Lodge Deputy has informed Lessing Lodge to go no further, and to prepare a PLAN to be submitted to the Grand Lodge Supervisory Board in which plan Lessing would make a case for receiving ownership of the building whilst maintaining financial sustainability. The proposal initially did not address profit sharing from a future sale of the building. However, once Lessing made it clear that the proceeds from any sale would be split fairly, I sensed that Reed and Evansville were amenable to Lessing s proposal. The Grand Master s Deputy explained that Lessing selling the building at a profit without a split would be considered a Masonic offense. We further voted to give the realtor a ninety day extension with the understanding that, if Lessing s proposal received the green light by Grand Lodge AND no other serious offers were on the table, our agreement with said realtor would be terminated. James F. Jones, PM Fall Fundraising
3 Our fall fundraising schedule is about to get started and we again need you, as volunteers. Won't you come forward and give us a hand. For just one event, or for them all, we need you there. Your help does make a difference! Fundraising is a great way to help your lodge. Raising money like this can strengthen our lodges' financial reserve. It can allow us to cover the cost of special projects or even help offset some of those unexpected expenses, without going into the lodge savings or possibly raising dues. It can allow us to buy items for the benefit of the lodge or to enjoy activities as a masonic family that quite simply could not happen without fundraising dollars. Not only are there financial benefits through fundraising, there are the personal gains. Our brothers often get the chance to work side by side, building close friendships and bonds that may not normally occur through simple attendance of a lodge meeting. Friendships that can grow and last for life. Please make this a project for you to help the lodge. This is a win-win for us all. Below is a schedule for August at the Ford Arena. This includes the date, report time, event name, and number of workers needed to cover. August 1st 5:45 August 17th 5:15 August 23rd 6:15 August 24th 6:15 Lynrd Skynyrd (6 Workers) Toyota Employee Concert (9 workers) MMA Concert (4 workers) Mixed Martial Arts ( 5 workers) Contact Kenneth Roy at kenneth.royjr@gmail.com, or James Gaston at jgaston87@yahoo.com or call James at James has agreed to wear the mantle of event coordinator. I will be working with him this season to transition leadership into his capable hands. Let's be there to give him all of the support that he needs. Kenneth Roy Kenneth Roy, PM, 33 Secretary Evansville Masonic Lodge No. 64 F&AM Grand Master s One Day Class
4 O ctober 19th, is the date set for the fall session of the One Day Masonic Class. Put this on your calendar and join us! This fall class will be hosted by Evansville Lodge 64 at the Evansville Masonic Temple and sponsored by our friends at the Evansville Scottish Rite. Activities will get started around 7:00 AM (CDT). Registration of candidates will be on the main floor; coffee and breakfast will be served downstairs. The degree work should get started by around 8:15 AM. Later, after the Fellow Craft degree, we will break to refresh ourselves. The Scottish Rite staff will be waiting for us, across the street, where they will have prepared an appetizing lunch for everyone, and a pleasant meet and greet to welcome to our new brothers to the fraternity. After lunch we will return to the temple building for introduction of our distinguished guests and the highlight event of the day, the Master Mason degree, which will be conferred by Eureka Lodge, the southern-most lodge in the State of Indiana. Start getting those friends of yours petitions in so they can become a part of our ancient and honorable fraternity! Our Web Master, Ben Poormokhtar, has installed a special feature that will allow members to make personal contact information changes as easy as pushing a few buttons on a keyboard. This is a great feature. All you do is put in the changes that you need to make or make any additions you wish and press the submit button. That information will be automatically sent via to the lodge secretary who can and will then update you records. Just think, no more trying to call. No more trying to reach the secretary. No more letters to be written and postage to be paid. It is going to be EASY. FAST, AND SIMPLE. Of course, we never mind getting a call from you either. You choose! Remember, keep us informed so we can keep you in the loop. After all, it is your lodge! Ken Roy 812/ From the Desk of the

7 I recently discovered an interesting thing while trolling around the internet. I was looking at a feature in Florida called the Coral Castle. A Latvian immigrant built a huge castle as a monument to a woman who spurned his advances. He built it out of huge blocks of coral, some weighing in at twenty-eight tons. It was rumored that he mastered levitation and that he discovered the secret to the building of the pyramids. It is rumored that he worked at night so no one would learn his secret to levitating large weights. Some say he used massive block and tackle units, hoisting the huge blocks to incredible heights. But at 5'-0" and barely one hundred lbs, this appears to have been an impossible feat for this diminutive man. One of the websites debunking this "magical feat" is This man uses simple physics to move huge blocks - without block and tackle units and without large external ramps. He does this all by himself. He even moved a huge pole barn 300 feet to another location to prove his point. The website includes all the necessary physics and videos. If you have internet access it is worth 30 minutes of your time to check this out. So what's the point? Using simple physics, it is quite possible that the Egyptian pyramids were built using no external ramp systems, no huge block and tackle hoists, and no incalculable numbers of Hebrew slaves. Less than 1000 men could have built the pyramids in 20 years with hardly any strain. And what is the point in that, you say? It is not only possible, but probable, that the Temple of Solomon, so spacious and magnificent and constructed by so many celebrated artist, took much fewer men than originally estimated. And while our ritual accurately describes the care and the great attention to detail exerted by the artists involved, and while it is true that the stones were cut and numbered in the quarries and erected into place without tools of iron, it was not so impossible to imagine that this temple could be erected so easily using simple physics. No innumerable slave labor, no direct lifting of massive stone load, no alien intelligence, no magic levitation. Just plain old fashion know-how and a few good Freemasons.
