Brown and Georgia will begin the meet on floor in the first rotation and will finish on beam in the fifth rotation. They will be on a bye for the final rotation of the meet. Also competing in Semifinal I are No. 2 LSU, No. 3 UCLA, No. 6 Alabama, No. 7 Nebraska and No. 10 Arkansas. Brown s fellow individual all-around competitors in the first semifinal will be Cairo Leonard-Baker (Arizona State), Jovannah East (Bowling Green), Drew Watson (Auburn), Brianna Brown (Michigan) and Lauren Bridgens (Penn State). The individual event qualifiers are Jamie Stone (Ohio State, vault), Samantha Cerio (Auburn, bars) and Abby Milliet (Auburn, beam). RETURN FROM INJURY Brown secured her NCAA Nationals berth after not competing on floor or in the all-around in two months. The freshman was injured during warmups on February 10 and missed two meets before gradually adding back bars, beam and vault over the course of five weeks. In her return to floor competition at NCAA Regionals on April 7, Brown anchored the line-up and tied her career high (9.950). Her all-around score at Regionals of was only.025 off her career best. SEASON HIGHLIGHTS Brown made her mark early during the 2018 season, competing in the all-around in the first five meets of the year. She did not have a fall on any event and saw only two scores below 9.800, neither lower than Through those five meets, she earned five marks of at least including three on floor. In her first meet back from injury on February 23, she tied her career high on bars (9.875). She competed STORYLINES Assistant Coach: Jay Hogue Vol. Assistant Coach: Jessica Lopez on both bars and beam the following week, matching career highs on both. In the final regular season meet and at the Big 12 Championships, she competed on three events before adding floor at Regionals. In total, she won seven event titles, including at least one in each of the five meets before her injury. She was named the Big 12 Conference co-newcomer of the Year after earning Newcomer of the Week honors twice. EYE ON THE RANKINGS Because of her injury, Brown did not have time to establish or improve her Regional Qualifying Scores (RQS) to find herself in the final individual rankings. The week prior to her injury, she was ranked No. 9 in the all-around ( average), tied for No. 12 on vault (9.875) and tied for No. 19 on floor (9.885). REGIONALS RECAP Brown had at least a share of DU s highest scores on vault, bars and floor at NCAA Regionals and tied for second overall on both bars and floor. Her was the highest from a non-advancing team to give her the first individual all-around spot. It was also the second-highest Regionals score out of the 12 individual all-around qualifiers. As a team, Denver finished third overall with the program s second-highest team score at an NCAA Regionals competition ( ). The team s scores of on floor and on bars were also the second-highest Regionals scores in program history on those events. NATIONALS HISTORY Denver has advanced at least one student-athlete to the NCAA National Championships in every season since 2000, including team appearances four times (2001, 2007, 2008, 2017).
