2 LEVEL SGM LEKTRA produces level measurement instruments for industrial applications and for environmental monitoring. These instruments are divided into two groups: Measurement - Numeric and percentage of detected level. Control - Detecting the presence or absence of product in a predetermined point (on-off level). For the measurement and control of level, there are several physical principles and then, depending on the applications, it is necessary to evaluate the most suitable choice. 3 On/Off Capacitive control is an established and extensively used level control technique. The instrument is composed of an electrode, suitable for the application, and of an electronic insert mounted inside a protective housing. The available inserts are adapted to a wide applications variety of, on-off transmitters, alarms, pumps control, even with Atex certifi cation for applications in areas with danger of explosion. The process connections are of various types, threaded, fl anged or sanitary type. The CLS9 and CLS5 types are suitable for installation on plastic or fi berglass tanks. 7 This principle is particularly suitable for the use on powders and granules when electrical capacitance changes or electrostatic charges make other measurement principles ineffective. The operation principle is based on the fork vibration, generated by the electronic insert, which is absorbed by the product when it is in contact with the vibrating fork. The electronic insert is removable and can be powered with any voltage. The calibration, fully digital, is via two buttons and allows the user to select the alarm type (Max-Min), the sensitivity (Low-High) and the delay time (1s to 4s). It is also available in ATEX version RSL200 RSL200 controls the level thresholds of powders or granular products using the vibrating fork method. Typical applications include the protection of overfl ow or product failure monitoring for fl our, cereals, milk, dust, sand, cement, plastic or organic granules, polystyrene foam, etc.. 8 LEVEL The resistive principle uses the conductivity of the liquid to be tested. The electrical current travels through the liquid and comes into contact with the electrode detecting the level reached. The probes are available with single or multi-rod or rope electrode (max 5). Process connections are extremely varied, threaded, fl anged or sanitary type with different sizes and materials. Control units associated with the resistive probes allow the user to set the sensitivity, the delay times and also check the connections between the probe and the control units. 9 The capacitive principle for continuous level measurement is one of the most widely used for industrial applications. Thanks of its fl exibility it can be applied to measurements of liquids, solids, granules and powders. The operation is based on the detection of the capacity of the insulation interposed between the electrode and the material to be measured. The instrument can be compact (electrode and insert) in a single unit or separate with a remote insert for applications where there are high process temperatures, high vibration levels or where it is impractical to use a compact version. The electrode type choosen determines the unit model (CLT4, CLT5, CLT7, CLT8). An electronic capacitive insert mounted into a protective housing determines the type of operation of the unit and that is: - Level Transmitter, 4 20 ma (TC22 25) - Level Transmitter, 4 20 ma + threshold relay (TC26 29) - Level Transmitter, 4 20 ma 2 wires (TC30) The operation, fully digital, allows the calibration via two buttons or s/w installed on a PC. These pulses are irradiated and then refl ected, from the product surface to be measured and received back by the same antenna. A method of time elongation, allows the assessment of the time of fl ight which, by its nature, is particularly short, to be able to calculate with accurancy the distance and hence the level of the product to be measured. Dust, vapors, high temperatures and pressures are well tolerated and allow the use of units in critical conditions. An advanced computerized system by envelope curve and the possibility to map the false echo curve allow to improves the measurement in critical conditions. Thanks to the two-wire technology (2-wire) and HART communication makes the installation, commissioning and use of the units simple

Radar pulses emitted by antenna are refl ected by the product surface and received back. The system of signal management integrated on board of RPL converts the fl ight time into the distance of the surface of the product from the probe and, consequently, into the level. Through the alphanumeric display of programming it is possible to input all the data related to the level measurement and display the echo map in the HART version. The RPL51 / 52 are ideal for level measurement of liquids for ranges greater than 10 m. The frequency of 6 GHz allows the RPL 51/ 52 to tolerate the presence of vapors for applications in tanks and for measurements in tanks with demanding pressure and temperature conditions misura level measurement di livello

16 Features The advanced electronics, combined with the echo management system allows the use of the RPL in severe process conditions. The recognition function of the false echo fi lters false echoes in order to obtain a stable level measurement. The versatility of the RPL makes it suitable for application in various types of process conditions, including the most severe. For example: high temperature or high pressure, low dielectric constant of the product etc.. The low energy of the pulse Radar is not harmful for the environment or for those who work in close proximity to it

17 LEVEL A short electromagnetic pulse is sent along a rope and is refl ected back once it reaches its end. If the rope is immersed into the product to be measured, in the point of contact air/product an echo is generated by this discontinuity. The echo comes back to the same rope and is detected as a surface of the product. A method of time elongation, allows the assessment of the time of fl ight which, by its nature, is particularly short, to be able to calculate with accurancy the distance and hence the level of the product to be measured. These are particularly suitable for use with powders, granules, bulk solids such as plastic chips in high and narrow silos, as well as in the food industry because these instruments do not require new calibrations when changing the type of product. They are also suitable for materials for construction, sand, gravel, etc... The calibrations are possible even in the absence of product. 18 RWL51 / 52 RWL51-52 Guided microwaves level transmitters Ranges up to 30 m High temperature and high process applications RWL51 / 52 The instrument generates the high frequency pulses through a probe. The pulses are refl ected by the product surface, detected by the internal receiver and converted by microprocessor into level data. The measurement technique, coupled with the EchoDiscovery management system, and the versatility of the RWL series allows the units to be used in severe process conditions with a variety high temperature, high pressure and low dielectric constant. They can be used with materials such as cement, sands and similar products
