1 Technical Information TI 258F/24/ae Radar Level Measurement micropilot FMR 130 for stilling wells Smart transmitter for non-contact measurement in metallic by-pass pipes and stilling wells Suitable for use in explosion hazardous areas Application The Micropilot FMR 130 is designed for continuous, non-contact level measurement of liquids. It is used on bypass pipes and stilling wells as a substitute for mechanical systems. It provides reliable measurement under difficult conditions, such as when the dielectric constant of the medium is less than 1.9 or vortices are present. The Micropilot uses the radar pulsed time-of-flight (PTOF) measurement method and operates in a frequency band approved for industrial use. Its low beam power allows safe installation in metallic and nonmetallic vessels, with no risk to humans or the environment. 2 Measuring system Compact transmitter Used a sa compact transmitter, the Micropilot FMR 130 is equipped with: FHV 160 operating and display module as well as HART protocol Remote operation is possible by hand held terminal or Commubox plus laptop The output is supplied active for powering loop-powered devices. A relay with potential-free contact signals level limits or transmitter faults. Input Power FMR 130 Endress+ Hauser V H V + H - E FHV 160 Hand-held Display / Calibrator Relay FXA 191 Commubox for connection to Laptop Output for Analog Display or PLC Measuring system Micropilot FMR 130: Remote operation is possible with Hand held terminal or Commubox with laptop computer Rackbus RS-485 interface (optional) Using this option, several Micropilot transmitters can be connected together on a bus and operated directly from a personal computer. Alternatively, an FXA 675 card allows connection to a process control system via Rackbus. Input Power RS 485 Direct connection to a PC via Rackbus RS 485 Electrical connection The Micropilot FMR 130 housing has three separate compartments: 1 and 2 contain the wiring terminals, 3 contains the electronics. For the Ex-version, the output can be selected by jumper, as intrinsically safe or as explosion proof The output is active as specified in the order code The transmitter housing can be rotated through 85 for easy wiring. The maximum measuring range is dependent upon the nominal diameter of the pipe or well and the presence of vents (refer to diagrams below). Bypass Pipe Measuring 0 ft. 4 Installation guidelines Installation For standard installations, refer to the diagram at the right for minimum stand pipe or stilling well diameter. Ensure the antenna horn is perpendicular to the pipe and centered in the pipe. When planning stilling wells: Single vent type well (vent close to antenna horn) is suitable for low viscosity liquids. Attach a metal bar, approximately 0.4 wide at the bottom of the well to define the zero point. Calibration is accomplished using push buttons and LCD. Programming values and error codes are displayed on the 4-1/2 digit LCD. A 10 segment bar graph indicates % of level in 10% increments during normal operation. The red LED indicates alarm status: on indicates alarm, flashing indicates warning.
