4 Cessna Aircraft Company Page 1 GA36 Report No.: ICA Rev A 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Purpose The purpose of these Instructions for Continued Airworthiness Supplement is to provide the maintenance technician with the information necessary to ensure the correct installation of the GA36 & GA37 GPS Antennas as installed on the Citation Model 510 Mustang. This supplemental document is designed to satisfy the required 14 CFR , Instructions for Continued Airworthiness requirements associated with this installation. This document is a supplement to the Model 510 Maintenance Manual and may or may not be incorporated. If this information is incorporated into the Model 510 Maintenance Manual, the maintenance manual shall take precedence over this supplemental document. NOTE: This document must be placed with the aircraft operator s Technical Library CD-ROM or Maintenance Manual and incorporated into the operator s scheduled maintenance program. 1.2 Effectivity These Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) supplement are effective for the following aircraft model(s) and serialization where this System is installed: Model Beginning Effectivity Ending Effectivity and On Table 1.2-1: Installation ICA Effectivity
5 Cessna Aircraft Company Page 2 2 DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION 2.1 Functional Overview The Model 510 airplane has a Garmin Global Positioning System (GPS) installed to give navigational data to the pilots. The GPS system gives satellite-based navigational data to the pilots and displays it graphically on the multifunction display (MFD) in the cockpit. The Garmin GIA-63W units have a 12-channel GPS receiver subassembly installed in them that receives a signal from up to 12 satellites at one time. The aft GPS antenna receives XM Weather data and XM Music (optional). 2.2 System Components The components in the GPS system include two externally installed antennas, the two Garmin GIA-63W Integrated Avionics Units, and related coaxial cables. The forward GPS antenna is installed at approximately FS and the aft GPS antenna is installed at approximately FS Each of the GPS antenna centerlines are installed on BL The two GPS antennas are
6 Cessna Aircraft Company Page 3 connected to the Garmin GIA-63W Integrated Avionics Units in the cockpit by coaxial cables that route between the pilot's and copilot's windshields, inside of the center retainer. Each GPS antenna has one GPS coaxial connector (GPS 1 (Ref Des: PC1001) forward antenna, GPS 2 (Ref Des: PF1000) aft antenna) that connects the antennas to the remaining part of the system. The GPS 2 antenna has one more coaxial connector (PC1006) that connects the antenna to the Garmin GDL-69A Datalink through coaxial cable.
7 Cessna Aircraft Company Page 4 GA36 Report No.: ICA Rev A 3 GPS ANTENNA REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION 3.1 GPS Antenna Removal Reference Figure 3-1 NOTE: Removal of the GPS1 and GPS2/Datalink antennas is typical. The GPS2/Datalink antenna has one more coaxial connector than the GPS1 antenna. (1) Remove electrical power from the airplane. (a) Disengage the NAV IAU 1 PRIM (HC029) and NAV IAU 2 SEC (HC040) circuit breakers on the pilot's circuit breaker panel and the NAV IAU 2 PRIM (HF028) and NAV IAU 1 SEC (HF039) circuit breakers on the copilot's circuit breaker panel. (2) Remove the flight compartment overhead panel to get access to the GPS antenna coaxial connectors. Refer to Chapter 25, Flight Compartment Overhead Panel - Maintenance Practices, of the Maintenance Manual. (3) Disconnect the coaxial connector (PC1001 for GPS 1, or PF1000 and PC1006 for GPS 2/Datalink) from the GPS antenna. (4) Remove the fillet seal from the base of the GPS antenna. Refer to Chapter 20, Fuel, Weather, Pressure, and High-Temperature Sealing - Maintenance Practices, of the Maintenance Manual. (5) Remove the sealant (white RTV) from the screws on the GPS antenna. (6) Remove the screws that hold the GPS antenna in position on the airplane skin. (7) Remove the GPS antenna from the airplane skin. 3.2 GPS Antenna Installation Reference Figure 3-1 NOTE: Installation of the GPS1 and GPS2/Datalink antennas is typical. The GPS2/Datalink antenna has one more coaxial connector than the GPS1 antenna. (1) Clean the installation surfaces of the GPS antenna and airplane skin. (2) Put the GPS antenna in position on the airplane skin. (3) Install the screws that hold the GPS antenna in position on the airplane skin. (4) Make sure that the GPS antenna is Type I electrically bonded to the airplane skin. Refer to Chapter 20, Electrical Bonding - Maintenance Practices, of the Maintenance Manual.
8 Cessna Aircraft Company Page 5 (5) Apply a Type V, Class A sealant (white RTV) on the top of the screws for protection from water. (6) Apply a Type I, Class B sealant to make a fillet seal around the base of the GPS antenna. Refer to Chapter 20, Fuel, Weather, Pressure, and High-Temperature Sealing - Maintenance Practices, of the Maintenance Manual. (7) Connect the coaxial connector (PC1001 for GPS 1, or PF1000 and PC1006 for GPS2/Datalink) to the GPS antenna. (8) Engage the NAV IAU 1 PRIM (HC029) and NAV IAU 2 SEC (HC040) circuit breakers on the pilot's circuit breaker panel and the NAV IAU 2 PRIM (HF028) and NAV IAU 1 SEC (HF039) circuit breakers on the copilot's circuit breaker panel. (9) Do the GPS 1 and 2 Antenna Check per in the Maintenance Manual. (10) Do the Datalink Operational Check per in the Maintenance Manual. (11) Do the Pressure Vessel Cabin Leak Test per in the Maintenance Manual. (12) Install the flight compartment overhead panel. Refer to Chapter 25, Flight Compartment Overhead Panel - Maintenance Practices, of the Maintenance Manual.
