1 R88 Flame Detector Driver Board Usage (ACM-9--A) Technical Specifications: Operating Voltage: DC.V~0V Operating Current: ma~0ma Max (Always On Condition) Power Safe Mode:.mA (When sensing circuit is off) Board Mechanical Dimensions: 80mm x 0mm Mounting Hole ( x.mm Diameter), mm away from each corner Operating Basics The driver board provides the necessary operating voltage for the Hamamatsu Flame Sensor (R88, DC 0V ± 0V) with a DC Input from.v~0v. It uses an isolation step up transformer to step up the input voltage from.v to DC 0V ± 0V. Under operating conditions, when the sensor detectes the ultravoilet radiations emitted from a flame within operating range (up to 7meters), an V (approximate) pluses will be generated from the Pulse Out pin, the period and amplitude of the pulses depends on various factors. Such as distance of the flame detected and the intensity of the ultravoilet radiations emitted. The stronger the ultravoilet radiations the shorter the pluse out period. Unlike the C70 Hamamatsu Driver board, the in-house design driver board does not processed the signal generated from the R88 Flame Sensor. It outputs raw pulses directly from the Sensor Output and the user can directly interface it to a microcontroller IO pin to further processed the signal based on User's Application, thus providing better control and flexibility in the design. The driver board is designed with power savings in mind. Taking into considerations that the driver board could be battery operated. When the Push Button (PB) is depressed (Power Savings is On), the power ON/OFF to the sensor circuit is automatically controlled by AND-gate circuit (On and Off timing is set by Resistor Rx & Ry, Default set to sec On, 7sec Off with Rx=ohms, Ry=Kohms, refer to

In general, when operating in power savings mode and the user application detects low to high transition from PLISE-OUT pin, user application can set a high (Logic '') to the REMOTE-TRI to always turn on the power to the sensor, which will override the on-off timing from the PWM circuit, else if the REMOTE- TRI is Low (Logic '0'). The supply to the sensor circuit is controlled by the AND gate Circuit. When there is flame detected, there will be series of high to low transistion pulses, opposite of those from Pulse Out pin. When ultravoilet radiations is detected, series of pulses with Low to High Transistions. Normally Logic low when there is no flame detected.
