1 Four Channels BTL Power Driver AM5820E AM5820E The AM5820E is a 4channel BTL driver, 2 of the high Vom channels are able to drive sledge/loading and spindle motor, Package is ETSSOP24 for small PCB size application. 9 Operation notes 1) The builtin thermal shutdown circuit mutes the output current when the chip temperature reaches 175 (typ.). The hysteresis is set to 25 (typ.), so the circuit will start up again when the chip temperature falling to 150 (typ.). 2) In case mute pin voltage is under 0.5V or NC, output current is muted (except for tray motor driver). Mute pin voltage should be more than 1.5V for normal application. 3) Bias pin (pin 8) should be pulled up to more than 1.5V. In case the bias pin voltage is pulled down below 0.5V (typ.), the output current is muted. 4) All drivers are muted by thermal Shutdown. When bias terminal voltage falls and mute in ON, BTL driver except loading driver is muted. Previous stage operational amplifier is not muted. Output terminal of muted BTL driver applies internal bias voltage ( POWVCC/2 (V)) 5) Insert the bypass capacitor (~ 0.1uF ) between Vcc pin and GND pin as close as possible. 6) Heat dissipation fins are attached to the GND on the inside of the package. Make sure to connect them to the external GND. 7) Avoid simultaneous activation of upper and lower Tr when loading function is implemented, we recommend firmware setting time period for open longer than 10msec when motor forward/reverse. 8) Supply voltage of should be equal to POWVCC. 9) In principle, do not apply voltage below subpotential of IC to terminal. Examine in consideration of operation margin, when each driver output falls below subvoltage of IC ( GND) due to counter electromotive force of load. 10) Output pin is to avoid short circuiting with POWVCC, GND and other output pins. Also be fully careful in the direction of an integrated circuit on the substrate. An integrated circuit is damaged, smoke may come out by the case. 9
