10 The Mechanical PreConditioning

11 TERNA RSE HVDC insulators In tight collaboration with TERNA, definition of the final test procedure to adopt on insulators (new and from service), on the base of preliminary RSE tests and CIGRE WG activities. Final set-up of the model for ionic currents and electric fields calculation, and its implementation in the 3D code (developed by RSE). Results from the model are in accordance with experimental results carried out in RSE Laboratories (and simplified models from literature). Application of the code for the calculation of ionic currents end e-field distributions on the Sacoi OHL configuration. 19

12 TERNA RSE HVDC insulators Acquisition of insulators (cap&pin with total and partial RTV covering), final setting up of laboratory configuration and starting of tests. Use of the code on other HVDC OHL configurations Output: Requirements and specifications for optimal sizing of insulation 20

13 TERNA cable fault detection on long interties in November induced current measurements are scheduled with the aim to infer the influence on the measurement of cable fault detection. Such measurement will be performed in Latina converter station of the SAPEI intertie. In parallel numerical simulation will be performed to access the interference level considering different operation configuration 21
