1 National Electric Power Company Telecommunication and Control Department Supply of Outdoor Coupling Equipments ( Line Traps and Coupling Filters ) Tender No. 8/2018 A) General NEPCO is extending the transmission system to integrate new 132 KV Over Head transmission Line substations (KFW, MAS, Masdar, Shoubak Wind, Safawi Solar). New 132 KV 50 Hz Over Head transmission Lines are constructed between: QAIA S/S KFW S/S, Madaba S/S KFW S/S, MAS S/S Hasa S/S, MAS S/S Tafilah Wind SS, Masder S/S Mowagger S/S, Shoubak Wind S/S Fujij S/S, Safawi Solar S/S - Solar S/S, as shown in Fig. 1, 2 and 3. NEPCO plans to utilize power line carrier equipment to provide a redundant path for the telecommunication services in case of failure of the existing Fiber Optics equipment (SDH, PDH). The power line carrier equipment will provide speech, telecontrol and teleprotection channels over 50 Hz, 132 KV transmission systems. These Tender calls for engineering, design, manufacturing, testing at factory, packing, and CIF Aqaba seaport or CIF QAIA airport delivery of outdoor coupling equipment comprising: coupling filters, coaxial cable and line traps as specified below:

2 1)Scope of Work: Supply of the following material to Aqaba seaport or QAIA: - 10 sets of HF coupling filters with phase-to-earth coupling sets of line traps. - (3000) meter of coaxial cable. 2) Method of coupling: The coupling units are required to cater for the phase to earth coupling which requires one line trap and one HF phase-to-earth coupling unit for each direction at each location, (See Fig 1, Fig 2, Fig 3, and Fig 4). 3 The blocking ranges shall be subject to approval of the engineer after the award of the Contract. The line trap shall have a protective device, which utilizes nonlinear resistor type arrestors, and the minimum discharge current shall be 10KA. The line trap shall be designed and equipped with Anti-corona rings and other necessary accessories to reduce corona discharge. The line traps shall be furnished with an adaptor plate to enable easy fixture on top of the CVTs. Tenderers shall submit type test reports or be expected to demonstrate that their line traps meet the tests recommended in IEC publication 353-line traps, with regard to temperature rise, short circuit current ratings, protective device, discharge current etc, and also the blocking capabilities of the line trap. All line traps shall be provided with non-metallic bird barriers. All line traps shall be provided with clearly visible rating plates which will include the following data:- a- Manufacturer s name. b- Type. c- Serial Number. d- Rated continuous current. e- Rated short time current with respect to time f- Rated coil inductance. g- Weight. Whilst the tuning device shall be similarly marked with the following details: a- Manufacturer s name. b- Type. c- Serial Number. d- Frequency band (s) etc, in Kilohertz. e- Rated protective level of the tuning device.

5 Earth switch interlock with door Distortion and intermodulation yes/no =<80dB below P.E.P The filters are to be suitable for outdoor use in a hot dusty climate and are to have weatherproof door seals together with breather holes to avoid condensation, the units must have an external earthing switch which should preferably be interlocked with the box door/lid such that the latter cannot be opened unless the earth switch is closed to earth the device. The earthing switch should be connected directly to the substation earth. The units must have an air surge arrestors and for higher security a gas surge arrestor connected between the isolating transformer equipment side terminals. The purpose of the last surge arrestor being to protect the PLC equipment. The earth switch shall be located outside the box of the coupling device. The coupling units should permit parallel coupling of two power line carrier terminals which use adjacent frequency-bands, in order to avoid interferences between them due to the increased number of channels transmitted on the same physical medium. The coupling units should also permit to connect power line carrier terminal to two phases of the power line in order to improve the reliability of transmission. When inter circuit coupling is employed it shall be possible to earth either of the coupling filters and maintain carrier transmission on a phase to earth basis using the other filter. The coupling device shall meet in full the safety and protection requirements of the IEC recommendation for such devices (IEC publication 481- Coupling devices for power line carrier systems). The device shall be fitted with a rating plate clearly defining, but not limited to the following data: a- Manufacturer s name. b- Type. c- Serial Number.

6 d- Peak envelope power. e- Available bandwidth or working range. Tenderers shall be expected to demonstrate that their equipment complies with the following tests: The coupling Filters detailed above shall be mounted on the CVT or CC lattice pedestals. 3- Coaxial Cable: - The coaxial cable shall have a characteristic impedance of 75 ohms unbalanced and have low attenuation in the frequency band (40-500) KHz ( the attenuation shall not be more than 0.5db/100m ) and shall be PVC covered, steel wire armored with a further outer sheath of PVC or PE. - The coaxial cable must be RG-11 type.
