INTRODUCTION This expert judgement report with classification defines the resistance to fire classification assigned to element, Rolling fire resistant shutter FIBREROLL EW 120, in accordance with the classes given in EN A1: This expert judgement report defines field of application which is outside the field of direct application according test standard or outside the field of extended application according to relevant extended application standard. This expert judgement expresses the opinion of the FIRES and is based on the experience or internal rules of FIRES. This product was already classified by FIRES, s.r.o. and the number of previous classification of fire resistance report is FIRES-JR NURE issued on , valid until Sponsor, Bolton Gate Co. Ltd, Waterloo Street, Bolton BL1 2SP, UK confirms that product Rolling fire resistant shutter FIBREROLL EW 120 is identical with product Rolling fire resistant shutter FIBREROLL EW 120, which is stated in reports according to article 3.1 TEST REPORTS AND EXTENDED APPLICATION REPORTS. 2. DETAILS OF CLASSIFIED PRODUCT 2.1 GENERAL The element, Rolling fire resistant shutter FIBREROLL EW 120, is defined as a fire resistant shutter according to EN 14600: PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Rolling fire resistant shutter FIBREROLL EW 120 consists of turning cylinder, curtain casing, vertical slide profiles, fabric and electric drive. Curtain fabric: fabric is made of glass fibres, interlaced by steel wire, type ALPHA MARITEX 4415 (1)-SP- AL (area density 690 g.m -2 ±10%, thickness 0,54 mm ±10%) (P-D INTERGLAS TECHNOLOGIES AG, Alpha Division, Great Britain) with polyurethane coating on one side of fabric. The second face of fabric is coated by aluminium foil 0,01 mm thick. Individual parts of fabric are fixed together by threads with steel wires type Alpha Maritex MNZ 140 A+S (P-D INTERGLAS TECHNOLOGIES AG., Germany). Total thickness of fabric is 0,7 mm. One strip of fabric may be max mm wide. Several strips of fabric 1000 mm or 1500 mm wide may be sewn together by threads with steel wires type Alpha Maritex MNZ 140 A+S (P-D INTERGLAS TECHNOLOGIES AG., Germany) to achieve wider, max mm wide curtain - if one turning cylinder is used. If two or more turning cylinders are used, several strips of fabric may be sewn together to achieve width 6000 mm, with overlapping at least 600 mm. In case if two or more turning cylinders are used and the fabric strips overlap each other, the cylinders are arranged one above another. It is possible to join unlimited number of cylinders by this way. Control unit consists of electric power supply 230V~/24V, control unit AOP and back-up batteries 24V (to prevent sudden closing of shutter in case of electric power failure) if needed (manufacturer AVAPS s.r.o.). Turning cylinder steel tube with closed ends 101,6 mm, thickness of sheet 1.6 mm, maximal length mm. Fabric is fixed to the cylinder by means of band steel and screws (5,5 x 13) mm, placed in spacing 200 mm. Fixation of cylinder to curtain casing is shown in drawings. Electric 230 V tubular drive type BECKER R60/11M FKB (BECKER-ANTRIEBE GmbH, Germany) is placed inside the cylinder. Drive is equipped by brake 24 V. Curtain casing Curtain casing consists of several parts. Individual parts are joined together by screws (4,5 x 16) mm TEX. Front and rear parts of casing are made of galvanized steel sheet 1,2 mm thick. Side parts of casing are made of galvanized steel sheets 3 mm thick. Upper part of casing is made of galvanized steel sheet 2 mm thick. Vertical guide profiles consist of two steel profiles (75 x 44) mm, thickness of sheet 2 mm, which are screwed together. 4 A weight, made of galvanized steel L profiles with dimensions (63 x 36) mm, thickness of sheet 2 mm and steel block (10 x 10) mm, is fixed at the bottom edge of fabric. The length of weight varies according to the total width of fabric. More detailed information about product construction is shown in drawings. 3. CHANGES OF THE PRODUCT OR END USE CONDITIONS OUTSIDE OF THE FIELD OF DIRECT OR EXTENDED APPLICATION Following changes of the product or end use conditions were permitted: 1) Another type of fabric than used in the tested specimen is permitted for the construction of rolling fire resistant shutter FIBREROLL EW 120. 6 a) ALPHA MARITEX SP (P-D INTERGLAS TECHNOLOGIES AG, Alpha Division, Great Britain) area density 640 g.m -2 ±10%, thickness 0,54 mm ±10%. Fabric is reinforced by stainless steel wires. Fabric is treated from both sides by polyurethane paint with grey, aluminium based pigment. Individual parts of fabric may be joined by threads with steel wires type Alpha Maritex MNZ 140 A+S (P-D INTERGLAS TECHNOLOGIES AG., Germany). b) ALPHA MARITEX /AL(18), made of glass fibres threaded by steel wires (manufacturer: P.D. Interglass Technologies Ltd. Great Britain). Fabric is coated from both sides by aluminium foil which is glued on surface of fabric. Total thickness of fabric is (0,65 ± 0,10) mm and area density is 0,78 kg.m -2 ± 10 %. 2) Increase in dimensions of rolling fire resistant shutter FIBREROLL EW 120 in comparison to tested specimen depending on used fabric type. APZ consists of: - feed piping dimensioned for required water passage; - manometer; - electrically controlled valve which is connected to electric fire signalling system; - three-way valve; - test discharge piping; - sprinklers. It is possible to join unlimited number of cylinders by this way. (Annex No ) 5) Modifications of construction: - Modification of curtain casing dimensions; Curtain casing dimensions may be changed according to Annexes No Casing dimensions are adjusted according to internal parts of curtain. - Modification of slide profiles; Slide profiles may be changed according to Annex No Modification of shaft and construction of shafts joint; Construction of joint of shafts with diameter 102 mm and thickness of sheet 2 mm may be changed according to Annexes No It is possible to join unlimited number of cylinders by this way. - Modification of shaft application; Shaft application may be changed according to Annexes No Shaft is supported by brackets with steel rollers placed in spacing 2000 mm. Ends of shafts are fixed to end plates. One end of the shaft is fixed to end plate by means of drive axle and bearings; the second end of the shaft is fixed to end plate by means of shaft axle and bearing. Way of fixation of shaft to the end plates allows vertical movement of the shaft. Shaft axis, 225 mm long, is made of steel rod with diameter of 25 mm. It is inserted into case inside the shaft in order to allow thermal expansivity. Brackets are made of galvanized sheet 2,0 mm thick. Dimensions of brackets are (200 x 230 x 230) mm. Brackets are fixed to transom by means of steel screws M8. Each bracket contains two pieces of steel rollers Interroll with diameter of 50 mm. - Modification of way of fabric sewing; Two strips of fabric may be sewn together by one double-stitch. ARGUMENTS IN FAVOR OF THE EXTENSION FIRES, s.r.o. has permitted the changes stated in cl. 4 of this document on following reasons: 1) It is permitted to use fabric ALPHA MARITEX SP and ALPHA MARITEX /AL(18) on the basis of tests according to test reports [2] and [5]. The construction of test specimens according to test reports [2] and [5] was comparable to construction of rolling fire resistant shutter FIBREROLL EW 120 [1]. 2) Dimensions of product (width x height) may be increased because the dimensions of tested specimens were maximal possible and no criterion failure occurred during test [1] which continued 133 minutes, test [2] which continued 101 minutes and test [5] which continued 92 minutes. Moreover, calculation of radiation of the product with particular dimensions was carried out. Calculation of radiation was carried out on the basis of calculation of emissivity. Measured temperatures on unexposed surface, measured values of radiation and area of fabric were used as input data for calculations. Area of slide profiles and curtain casing was omitted, because temperatures measured on these surfaces were lower than temperatures measured on fabric. It is possible to assume that value of radiation from these surfaces would by lower than radiation from fabric. At the same time, these areas were small if compared to the area of fabric and were placed furthest from the radiometer. Omission of area of slide profiles and curtain casing caused that the result of calculation represents safer case. Measured value of radiation from the whole specimen surface was assigned to smaller area of fabric and it leads to calculation of greater (more strict) value of emissivity. Calculated emissivity: - 0,27 (fabric ALPHA MARITEX 4415 (1)-SP-AL); - 0,47 (fabric ALPHA MARITEX SP); - 0,45 in 60 th minute of the test (fabric ALPHA MARITEX /AL(18)). The calculation of radiation of the product with increased dimensions was carried out with using values of calculated emissivity (0,27, 047 and 0,45) and measured temperatures on unexposed fabric face of specimen. Calculated values of radiation are lower than 15 kw.m -2 during time: - 90 minutes - fabric ALPHA MARITEX 4415 (1)-SP-AL; - 15 minutes - fabric ALPHA MARITEX SP; - 60 minutes - fabric ALPHA MARITEX /AL(18). If the dimensions of product are more than (30 x 6/4,5) m (width x height), the width of product influences the calculated values of radiation only a little and calculated values of radiation converge to following values with increasing width of product pro rata: - 13,2 kw.m -2, fabric ALPHA MARITEX 4415 (1)-SP-AL in 90 th minute of test, dimensions (30 x 6) m (width x height); - 14,1 kw.m -2, fabric ALPHA MARITEX SP in 15 th minute of test, dimensions (30 x 6) m (width x height); - 14,8 kw.m -2, fabric ALPHA MARITEX /AL(18) in 60 th minute of test, dimensions (30 x 4,5) m (width x height). Only some of dimensions which are stated in cl. 4 of this document satisfy the limit 15 kw.m -2 for fire resistance period of 120 minutes. 9 3) According to the Expert report and Expert opinion issued by Ing. Vladimír Reichel DrSc. REPO, Sečská 1962/16, Praha, Czech Republic the construction of rolling fire resistant shutter FIBREROLL EW 120 may include APZ in order to increase fire resistance (see cl. 4 of this document). Stated documents define minimal quantity of water which has to be supplied on the product surface in order to achieve required fire resistance. Manufacturer is obliged to design and produce APZ in the way, that the APZ is able to moisturise the whole product surface equally. Increase of fire resistance of rolling fire resistant shutter FIBREROLL EW 120 by means of usage of APZ is possible if following conditions are met: a) Water sprinkled products have to be applied in compliance with regulation of Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic No. 478 / 2008 about properties, particular conditions of operation and providing of regular check of fire resistant shutter. b) Water sprinkling has to be functional in case of fire and water has to be supplied to the surface of product during the whole period of fire resistance of shutter. c) The whole surface of the fire resistant shutter has to be covered by water and continual water coating has to be created at the top part of the shutter. d) Shutter with maximal height of 4,0 m may be sprinkled by one layer of sprinklers. If the height of shutter exceeds 4,0 m, the APZ has to consist of more layers of sprinklers with spacing max. 4,0 m. e) Quantity of water needed to sprinkle the surface of shutter stated in cl. 4 of this document relates to shutter which is sprinkled from fire unexposed face only. If the fire exposed face of the shutter is sprinkled, the quantity of needed water increases in following way: by 25 % in case of shutter with fabric ALPHA MARITEX 4415 (1)-SP-AL; by 25 % in case of shutter with required fire resistance EI and with fabric ALPHA MARITEX SP; by 35 % in case of shutter with required fire resistance EW and with fabric ALPHA MARITEX SP. f) Minimal pressure of extinguishing water in APZ has to be as follows: Shutter height apart from curtain casing [m] unexposed face Face of sprinkling exposed face 2,5 0,3 MPa 0,4 MPa 4,0 0,4 MPa 0,5 MPa g) Total water consumption per one fire resistant shutter is determined by shutter area multiplied by unit quantity of water according to cl. 4 pf this document, eventually increased according to point e). h) It is recommended to follow EN A2 in order to design APZ. i) In case an escape route leads near the shutter (parallel with the whole length of shutter), the influence of thermal flow on escaping persons and general safety of persons has to be appraised. It is recommended to place a centre line of nearest escape route at distance at least 2,5 m from the shutter. 4) FIRES, s.r.o. permitted placement of turning cylinders one beside another, because it is not expected that fire and function properties of product with above mentioned set-up of cylinders get worse. Manufacturer is obliged to modify the construction of product in the way, that above mentioned set-up of cylinders is suitable (modification of curtain casing dimensions, turning cylinders application, way of fixation to supporting construction ). 5) FIRES, s.r.o. permitted modification of construction on the basis of test results according to test report No. FIRES-FR AUNS issued on by FIRES, s.r.o., Osloboditeľov 282, Batizovce, Slovak Republic. 12 6.3 FIELD OF APPLICATION This classification is valid for the following end use applications: Height Width Thickness Frame elements of product Paint Decorative laminats Fixation of product Supporting construction increase in height according to cl. 4 of this document; for larger height of product, the manufacturer has to adapt the way of fixation to supporting construction to larger weight of product; decrease in height is permitted without restrictions; increase in width according to cl. 4 of this document; decrease in width is permitted without restrictions; It is not permitted to decrease in product thickness; It is permitted to increase in product thickness under the condition that the total increase in weight is not greater than 25 %; the cross-sectional dimensions and/or the density of material of vertical slide profiles may be increased, but shall not be reduced; it is permitted to increase in dimensions of frame elements; where the paint is not expected to contribude to the fire resistance, it is permitted to use alternative paints and may be added to metal parts of product; Decorative laminats max. 1,5 mm thick may be added to metal parts of product; the number of fixings used to attach product to supporting construction may be increased; the distance between fixings may be reduced; it is not permitted to chamge the the way of fixation of product; rigid supproting construction according to EN , with minimal thickness of 250 mm and minimal bulk density of 1200 kg.m LIMITATIONS This classification document does not represent type approval or certification of the product.
