2 OVERVIEW The XL 5Way overbed lighting fixture integrates ambient, reading, examination and nurse s night light functions into a one-piece unit, which may be recessed or surface-mounted to the ceiling. All lamps are enclosed, and Biax-type lamps are accessible for replacement without tools. SURFACE INSTALLATION For surface installation (Figure 1), all reflectors (reading light and ambient light s) and louver or lens frame for the examination light (2' x 4' fixtures only) must be removed. Lay fixture on its back. Press leg of spring-loaded latch into housing and rotate louver or lens frame up. Remove louver or lens frame from hinge slot. RECESSED INSTALLATION 1. For recessed installation, angle fixture up into ceiling opening, setting fixture on ceiling tees. Secure fixture installation by bending up wire hanger support tabs at each corner on back of fixture housing and fasten wire hangers (by others) to hanger support tabs (Figure 2). Make wiring connections. 2. To detach ambient light reflector, remove screws (both sides) at base of the partition separating the reading light and ambient light s (Figure 3). Rotate partition towards the reading light. Carefully remove reflector as shown. To replace, reverse the procedure. 3. To detach the reading light reflector, remove screws (both sides) at top of the partition and remove reflector and partition (single unit) as shown in Figure 4. To replace reflector, reverse the procedure. Figure 1. Figure 2. To install or replace lamp (by others) in the reading light, place hands around the clear acrylic lens and squeeze lens to remove from the lamp baffle (Figure 5). To replace clear acrylic lens, reverse procedure. Be sure lens locks into lamp baffle. 2. To install or replace lamp (by others) in the ambient light, rotate lens as shown in Figure To install or replace lamps in the examination light, open louver or lens frame (Figure 7). Figure 5. 4 INSTALLING OR REPLACING OPTIONAL NURSE S NIGHT LIGHT OR SEQUENTIAL SWITCH Remove ambient light reflector (Figure 3). To remove optional sequential switch, pry switch (adhesive backing) from housing, as shown in Figure 8. Replace sequential switch and make wiring connections. Replace ambient light reflector. The incoming wiring is connected according to existing wiring diagrams. ADJUSTING/AIMING DIRECTION OF OPTIONAL NURSE'S NIGHT LIGHT Loosen screws on both sides of the specular anodized aluminum mirror and rotate mirror until properly aimed to the right or left side of patient s bed (Figure 9).
