2 Welcome to the World of Spherical Printing The challenge of short run digital spherical printing has been plaguing the industry since the advent of digital printers. The constant desire to print unique, high quality products that are spherical has made various companies attempt to produce the perfect solution to this dilema. DigiGraphics has chosen the Roland platform, seeing that the LEF has proven highly successful in the medium sized UV Flatbed printer range with its unique set of features and capabilities. The RotaPrint is the brainchild of the Research & Development team at DigiGraphics who have been developing it for over 18 months. After many attempts and prototypes, the RotaPrint RPA is now a developed, mature product that has been producing thousands of high quality prints across the globe. We are very proud that you have chosen the RotaPrint RPA as an attachment to your Roland LEF printer and we thank you for it. 3 Installing your RotaPrint RPA

4 Please follow all steps closely. This will ensure the correct operation of your RotaPrint.

5 The rubber o-rings are designed to be slotted in the grooves on the stainless steel rods. This will allow you to position your item accurately on your RotaPrint. The cones are there to be used for tapered objects with a maximum differential of 5mm. (See below) 1 Uneven surfaces within a particular tolerance can be printed utilizing the height adjustable cones. We recommend that you do the setup of the subtrate outside of the machine on the RotaPrint in order to be able to freely move the o-rings. 2 RotaPrint plate must be set to high position upon initial installation. Stand the RotaPrint up and loosen the thumbscrews. Move the plate gently all the way forward. 3 Tighten all 5 thumbscrews. Please DO NOT overtighten the thumbscrews. 4

6 Ensuring that the RotaPrint table is set to the highest position, set your LEF Table to the lowest position. 5 Set HEIGHT to 0,0mm. 6 Insert the ROTAPRINT into the machine. 7 Align both sliders (left and right) to the correct adjustment line as indicated on the RotaPrint. There are two lines on either side of the RotaPrint. The slider edge should be positioned on the line closest to you. 8

7 Set HEIGHT to 50,0 mm or as close to the black o-rings as possible. 9 Unscrew all 5 thumb screws in order to release the table. The RotaPrint o-rings should now be touching the LEF bed. Ensure that the entire LEF bed is touching all the o-rings on the RotaPrint. Press down firmly to ensure that the front and rear o-rings are touching the full length of the bed. 10 Place the object that you wish to print on the wheels. You can utilize the cones if you have an object that is slightly conical. The maximum printable object with a conical differential is that of 5mm. 11 Set table height in order to accomodate the object that you wish to print. Use the SPACER tool to do that. 12

8 The Spacer Tool is designed to create a safe distance between the substrate and the printheads. Please note that we have designed the Spacer Tool with the objective of keeping a very safe distance between the substrate and the printheads. You may wish to take up the substrate 2-3 UPWARD clicks on the LEF in order to bring it closer to the printheads. ALWAYS VISUALLY VERIFY THAT THE SUBTRATE IS AT A SAFE DISTANCE FROM THE PRINT- HEADS. 13 The Spacer Tool should be gently touching the substrate to be printed. The sides of the tool should sit firmly on the RotaPrint frame and not be lifted off it. 14 Gently tighten all 5 thumbscrews. 15

9 Remove the SPACER tool and close front cover. 16 Printing with your RotaPrint RPA Please ensure the following: 1. Mist Filter is set to OFF 2. Manual positioning is enabled for the initial setup. Once you commence setting up your substrate, please note the following: 1. Your starting point will be indicated by the Red Dot Pointer. At this stage it is very important that the LEF bed is just under the front o-rings where your bottle is sitting Your ending point will also be indicated by the Red Dot Pointer. At this stage your should enter the circumference of the substrate as your LENGTH in the machine utlizing the UP and DOWN arrow keys. 3. Once the setup is complete, you can then go to VersaWorks and utilize the GET MEDIA WIDTH button to retrieve the machine data.

10 Setting your initial starting point and ending point using the Red Dot Pointer. 18 Import your desing in VersaWorks. For best results use STANDARD MODE. You always needs to print in White+CMYK. (or: CMYK + White) even if white is not used. 19 Final Results!
