2 September 2016 Fall Group Show focus on Clive R. Tyler Reception: Friday, September 2, 6-8 pm InSight Gallery kicks off the season with our annual Fall Group Show featuring pastel artist Clive R. Tyler and new works from all sixty of our acclaimed gallery artists. Tyler s background in classical oil painting and graphic design contributes to his unique impressionist style with pastel. A Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society, Tyler received the 2015 Best in Show Award for pastel at their national show. From his bold landscapes to his captivating wildlife and floral paintings, he encapsulates the subtleties of changing light and air throughout the four seasons. He aims to offer the experience of the hiking trail, bison, garden peonies, and Texas oak trees, evoking the viewer s own memories and emotions. His guiding principle is to create, not duplicate. 4 October 2016 There s a Leopard in My Living Room Reception: Friday, October 7, 6-8 pm African wildlife artist and New Zealand resident Lindsay Scott unites her two passions, art and science, in her stunning portraits of wild animals from around the globe. Scott s solo exhibition will feature iconic Texas images of longhorn cattle alongside the majestic African animals for which she is so renowned. s experiences as illustrator, botanical researcher, and biologist, all contribute to her keen eye and deep love for the people and animals she paints. Able to capture both the dynamic activity and the more tranquil moments of her subjects, Scott presents her viewers with a firsthand experience of the drama and spirit of African and North American wildlife. 5 October - November 2016 Interpretations Reception: Friday, November 4, 6-8 pm Fredericksburg native and tonalist painter brings her serene and inviting landscapes to InSight Gallery for a mid-month solo exhibition. Known for her ability to connect the viewer to nature s tranquility, Bush portrays the landscape of the Texas Hill Country and the mountains of New Mexico in her trademark soft, layered palette that soothes the senses and provides a calming retreat. Aiming not simply to replicate the landscape, Bush seeks to convey the atmosphere and mood of a fleeting, quiet moment. Landscape is my love and is always a challenge, spiritually and emotionally. 6 November 2016 Journeys Michelle Dunaway Reception: Friday, November 4, 6-8 pm I am drawn to the things that connect us as human beings, to our inner emotional journeys. Whether expressed through a subtle human gaze or through light cascading over a landscape, life is felt on a deeper level in such moments. These are the moments I am inspired to capture in paint. Michelle Dunaway Recently named by Southwest Art Magazine as a Master of Realism, Michelle Dunaway gathers together the drawings, paintings, and sculpture inspired by her voyages around the United States and Europe in her solo exhibition, Journeys. This exhibition will present plein air paintings and life studies from Dunaway s travels in Alaska, her childhood home, along with works of art from her European tour and her studio in New Mexico. We are excited to announce that Dunaway will also unveil her first bronze sculpture. Though these pieces portray a wide array of subject matter, each one contains the emotional resonance that remains the harmonizing chord of Dunaway s art. What a whirlwind the past few months have been. It s hard to believe we re already ramping up for the Fall season. The energy that comes with receiving new work from all of our gallery artists each September, in preparation for the Annual Fall Gallery Show, is tangible and excitement is definitely in the air. As you can see from the pages of this newsletter, we will be hosting big talent at InSight Gallery over the upcoming months. We hope that you have the opportunity to join us at one of these events, or to come to Fredericksburg and experience all that our wonderful town has to offer. Between the incredible galleries, delectable restaurants, ever expanding number of wineries, superb accommodation options, and the beautiful scenery of the legendary Texas Hill Country - Fredericksburg is a fantastic destination. On their last visit to InSight, s husband, Brian, told us that, when she paints, it s like a piece of herself and it can be surreal to see it hanging on the walls for sale. This has stayed with us. We recognize the honor that has been bestowed upon us to have these artists work at InSight Gallery, as well as the opportunity to facilitate these pieces becoming a part of your lives.
