2 MAAA NEWS Many members of MAAA are now exhibiting their artwork in the Walpole Interiors Gallery in Walpole, NH. Some of the exhibitors are: Anne Ward, Liz Dinowitz, Carol Corliss, Madeline Ullrich, Liz Winchester-Larsen, Sandy Sherman and Richard Whitney. The Pastel Society of New Hampshire is having it s 11th annual members show at the Sunapee Landing Trading Post in Sunapee, NH. The show runs from May 15 through June 12. Summer Iris Carol Corliss Karen Winterholer is exhibiting two works at the Micro Gallery at the New London Inn, Main Street, New London as part of the Center for the Arts Members Show. The exhibits include four Micro Galleries on Main Street plus New London Hospital and run through July 31st. Carmela Azzaro of Keene will be the featured artist for the month of June at the Dublin Community Center. Carmela, who works in acrylics, draws her inspiration from nature. An opening reception for the artist will be held at the Community Center on Friday, June 10, from 5 7 PM. Refreshments will be served. Carmela's work is currently in the 2016 Juried Regional Exhibit, Library Arts Center in Newport, NH until June 16.

3 MAAA NEWS Plein Air Painting Workshop in Taos, Ghost Ranch and Santa Fe, New Mexico September 17 30, 2016 Taos, Chimayo, Ghost Ranch and Santa Fe Barbara Danser is conducting her 7 th Plein Air Painting Workshop in North/Central New Mexico. Artists working in all painting media are welcome. Set throughout the magnificent Sangre de Cristo Mountains full of golden Aspens and among cliffs and canyons of Ghost Ranch and Chimayo, we will paint Georgia O Keeffe country: purple mountains beneath crystal blue skies, cottonwood trees ablaze in gold, blue Sage and yellow Tamarisk flowering beneath towering red, gold, white and violet rock formations, canyons with gently flowing rivers, Georgia s flat-topped Pedernal, Echo Canyon, the White Place and the canyons of the Rio Chama ending at the remote Monastery of Christ in the Desert. Deluxe lodging with private bath in historic places: the Mabel Dodge Luhan House; Rancho de Chimayo; Casa del Sol, our private hacienda at Ghost Ranch; and the Hotel Saint Francis in Santa Fe. Group topics will include all aspects of painting in the landscape, the colors and light of the Southwest and Nature painted from within. Artists may attend a 10-Day Workshop, which includes Taos, Chimayo and Santa Fe (September 17 26). Also available is the full 14-day Workshop, which includes the 10-Day Workshop plus 4 nights in Santa Fe (September 17 30). 4 MAAA NEWS Join the New Southern NH Arts and Gallery Guide Everyone needs to be involved with this very special project that is being launched in our Region. It is called the Southern NH Art & Gallery Guide. It will be our area's go-to resource for information about artists, artisans, musicians, performers and nonprofit organizations in the Southern NH region. The area covered in this publication will include all of Hillsborough County, as well as a few other bedroom communities, Auburn, Derry, Hudson, Londonderry, Salem & Windham. So why wouldn't you want to be listed? There will be 10,000 copies of this 40+ page Art and Gallery Guide book printed and will be circulated by the publisher, throughout the Southern NH area's businesses and tourist locations. If you list or have an ad in the publication, you will be allowed as many guide books as you feel you can get out there and circulate to your collectors. There is still time for you to participate in this publication, but don't wait much longer to decide! A listing for Artists/Artisans is FREE! 5 MAAA NEWS Monadnock Area Artists Association Application for Art in the Park September 3 rd and 4 th, 2016 Deadline: If you want the same space you had last year, your application must be received by April 15th, Thereafter, all applications will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis. No exceptions!! Deadline for all applications is Friday, July 7th, Participation will be limited to 85 exhibitors. Entry Fee: MAAA members: $100 Non-members: $150. Fees are Non-Refundable. Date & Time: Saturday and Sunday, September 3 rd and 4th, 2016; 10 AM - 4 PM Place: Ashuelot River Park, West St. Keene, NH Details: All Exhibitors are required to leave their work on display for both days from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., rain or shine. Early breakdowns will disqualify you from being asked back. Artists must be present, or have a representative present at their booth during show hours. Site dimensions are approximately 10 x 10. Media Accepted For Display: Oil, Water Media, Acrylic, Pastel, Colored Pencil, Charcoal, Pen & Ink, Printmaking, Photography/Digital Art, Collage, Mixed Media and Sculpture. Quality prints and note cards are accepted for sale along with framed original artwork. All prints must be clearly identified. No photo copies allowed. Absolutely no nudes or crafts (jewelry, pottery, weaving/fiber arts, tiles, t-shirts, figurines etc.) allowed. NOTE: All work displayed in your booth must be original. Work from molds, kits, manufactured goods or ready-made products which have been embellished, painted, printed or decorated will not be accepted. Your booth must be comprised of at least 75% framed fine art/photography, paintings on canvas or sculpture, and only 25% additional products such as note cards, calendars, or bins of matted prints/photographs, if applicable. Demonstration of your skills as part of your exhibit is encouraged. Exhibitor Responsibilities: Hanging, display, care, removal and sale of art and/or equipment are the exhibitors responsibility. The Monadnock Area Artists Association and the City of Keene are not responsible for loss or injury caused by products sold or exhibited by exhibitors, or through warranty expressed or implied. Insurance for loss, damages or injury shall be the sole responsibility of the exhibitor. Parking: Exhibitors are required to unload from designated access areas. To protect the sprinkler system, DRIV- ING ON PARK GRASS IS PROHIBITED by the City of Keene. After unloading, you must park in the large parking lot at the rear of the park, if open, or in the Melanson lot on West St. to the west of Starbucks. DO NOT leave your car in the front parking lot or at Starbucks. Those spaces are reserved for customers. Security: Security will be provided in the park overnight from Saturday evening until Sunday morning. However, we do advise that you take all artwork home on Saturday night. Exhibitors are solely responsible for art and possessions left in the park overnight. Tents and furnishings may be left up, but should be closed as securely as possible. Set-up: Exhibitors will be sent the number of their assigned space at least two weeks prior to the event. Set-up will be on Saturday from 7-9:30 a.m.. High school students from the Interact Club will assist those who need help unloading and/or setting up their area. All artists are invited to join us for free coffee and bagels at the main tent after setting up. Judging begins at 10 a.m.. NOTE: Tent stakes are strictly prohibited because of possible damage to the park s underground sprinkler system. Doing so would prevent MAAA from being able to use the park for this event in the future. Awards: Judges will award ribbons and cash prizes to the first three places in each of the following categories: (1) Water Media - watercolor, acrylic, gouache; (2) Oil; (3) Pastel, Charcoal, (4) Pen and Ink, Colored Pencil and Original Printmaking; (5) Photography/Digital Art, and (6) Sculpture, Mixed Media and Collage. Cash prizes are as follows: First - $150; Second- $100; Third- $50. Award winners will be announced at approximately 2 p.m. on Saturday. Three Honorable Mention Ribbons will be awarded in each of the five categories. 18 MAAA NEWS Painting Group Every Thursday Heberton Hall All members are invited to attend the Painting Group, meeting every Thursday morning at 10:00 A.M. in Heberton Hall. Heberton Hall is located right next to the Keene Public Library and has wonderful lighting for painters. This is a joint program of the library and the Monadnock Area Artists Association. There is no charge, of course and no instruction. This is a social opportunity for artists to exchange information and perfect their art abilities. Almost all media are represented.
