2 Matt Guild lives in Martinborough and is inspired by family life, rustic rural simplicity and nostalgic everyday objects. Matt observes the world around him with a meticulous eye, and paints detail with extraordinary skill, capturing form, space, light, shadow and reflective surfaces with precision. His realistic style draws our attention to the beauty in recognizable landscapes, and evokes memories that anchor us warmly to our past. Matt passionately captures Kiwiana, finds ways to pull on our heartstrings and helps us remember where we have come from. My paintings are about light, shadows, reflections and about the way things look in their environment. I love capturing the detail, the way a certain object looks in a moment of time. Capturing New Zealand icons and pulling on the heart strings, helping us to remember where we have come from, this is the over all passion of my work. Realism painting for me is about capturing every day bits and pieces, the reality of living. His website ( is an overview of Guilds work. 3 Open Edition Prints A range of prints from selected paintings are available to buy, either framed or unframed. These are an affordable way to enjoy an art work you like, or they make a great easy gift for a friend or relative sending them a little bit of home. These prints are on acid free 280gsm paper. These are signed and titled. Giclée Limited Edition Print (edition of 250) Giclée prints are fine art reproductions using extreme long lasting fade resistant inks on archival. The inks are expected to last over 100 years if not longer. They are printed one at a time and each one is numbered. These ones are an edition of 250 meaning that they will not be printed again, as a wall hung print, after the edition expires. The images can appear in cards or books etc but there will be no second editions or prints in another form. These are signed and titled as well as numbered. The reproduction sizes listed below describe the giclée prints. If you are interested in custom sizes or if there is a particular painting that you would like reproduced in a giclée style please contact us. Please note that the colours may differ from this catalogue to the final reproduction. As new work becomes available we will be adding to the catalogue and website.
